Dr. Kyle Whitney Monk

I’m writing to share my experience with Dr. Monk, a pediatrician at Cedars-Sinai. Unfortunately, our interaction was extremely disappointing and concerning—especially as first-time parents seeking guidance and support. From the beginning, her demeanor felt dismissive and condescending. During the visit, she explicitly stated that she “needs to protect [her] peace” and does not have time for “nervous first-time parents.” She also asked whether we planned to be the type of parents who call frequently with questions. This felt inappropriate and discouraging in a pediatric setting, where reassurance and openness should be part of care. More concerning was how she handled our baby during the exam. The interaction felt rushed and lacked gentleness or acknowledgment of our child. There was no effort to engage with or comfort our baby, which made the experience feel impersonal and unsettling. We left the appointment in tears. Shortly after, we filed a formal complaint. During that process,… we were informed that similar concerns about her demeanor and communication style had been raised by other patients. This suggests a broader pattern that warrants attention. We ultimately transitioned to a different pediatrician, who has been compassionate, attentive, and everything we would expect in a provider caring for an infant. I would strongly encourage a review of this provider’s approach to patient care, particularly in how she communicates with new parents and handles infants during examinations.

Cedars should do whatever you need to keep Dr. Monk!! She's the best!!

We love Dr. Monk and have referred five other families to her since we started with her. She is knowledgeable, professional and personal. We never feel rushed and trust how thorough she is in ruling out medical conditions. She is the main reason why we continue under Cedar Sinai care.

I had a concern and it was handled beautifully.

I'm sure Dr. Kyle is an amazing doctor in her own way. But she just wasn't the doctor for us. Her approach came off as "scolding," dismissed concerns as "normal" or "don't worry about it." Show little to no compassion. A little too abrasive for us. She came off more of a school teacher narrating a student.

Dr. Monk is the best! She is very kind, listens and understanding.
