Dr. Kyle Mikkel Pfeifer, MD

For some reason, while my husband was suffering an acute ischemic stroke and still within the mechanical thrombectomy window, without any objective evidence of atherosclerosis on his CTA, my husband's emergency cath lab arrangements were cancelled. The reason Dr. Pfeifer gave according to my husband's record was "high grade stenosis". The reason given by Dr. Pfeifer more than a year later was that he "felt" that what he was seeing was a high grade atherosclerotic narrowing. Based upon my husband's presentation of acute cortical signs, NIHSS 13 and up, essential occlusion of M1 segment of MCA on CTA, perfusion mismatch and robust collateral activity, he ought to have been admitted to the cath lab for at minimum and angiogram, if not an additional rescue measure. Now my husband is left with crippling deficits and vascular dementia. I wish Dr. Pfeifer had just come and examined him.

Dr. Pfeifer is extremely well-trained. After my recent stroke, he recognized that my blockage could be solved by a new procedure only a year and a half old - a thrombectomy. He performed the surgery and I have almost no mental or physical impairment. I should have been dead.
