Dr. Kyle David Traynor, MD

I had never met this doctor until he entered my room unannounced to do my hospital discharge, while I was sitting naked at bedside using my Breastpump. He didn’t ask if it was an okay time, didn’t ask if I wanted him to come back, didn’t ask if I wanted to at least pause my (horribly painful) pump or even give me the chance to cover up. He came into my room and stood facing me with a team of residents and told me there was no reason for me to need to stay in the hospital any longer and he was writing discharge orders for me, and added there’s no reason I shouldn’t “be out of the hospital before noon because we could use the room for other patients.” My entire care was horribly managed through the OB department at Mayo. There were few times I ever felt like I really was well overseen by the lack of doctor involvement. Most of the care is magaged by first year residents, overseen by second year residents, and rarely is a patient approached by an actual OB in the scope of care;… apparently, unless to do your discharge while you’re in horrible post c-section pain, post HELLP Syndrome and MagSulfate drip, sitting naked and trying to figure out first-time pumping at the edge of your bed.
