Dr. Lala A Cornelius, MD

My father has been seeing Dr. Cornelius and she has been excellent. She has a kind and understanding bedside manner, gives lots of information and has noticed things that other doctors have not. She set up a very structured treatment and explained every step thoroughly. Our first visit she spent over and hour with us. I can't imagine what's going on with the low rating reviewers - it seems very suspicious to me, like one person wrote them all. I'm not sure what they meant that she was "trying to hide her nationality" - that seems ridiculous.

This woman was educated in Russia where she was born. She cleverly does not use her given name in order to appear to be an American.She does not have the years of experience as reflected in her bio and has moved about the country from hospital to hospital.She also claims a different area of expertise each time she moves. I found her to be self-absorbed, a poor listener and ,as she was behind schedule, I was rushed through my appointment. She seemed very preoccupied and seemed not to understand my terror regarding my symptoms. I left her office in tears of frustration. Find another physician as this one in questionable from every perspective.

Dr. Cornelius was my oncologist at Vanderbilt in Cool Springs. Loved her as my doctor. She was so caring and concerned about me and kept up with my family, too.

This was a nightmare encounter for me. I did my homework. She does Not have 18 years of practice, English is most certainly not the only language she speaks as she is from Russia,This is so evident that I found communication was very difficult. , I did not appreciate efforts to hide her heritage. She is a very cold woman with a problem with her listening skills or maybe this is a result of her Russian roots. I was given an inaccurate diagnosis simply due to her not ordering proper tests for my symptoms.Over and over I reported the very symptoms only to be ignored. Time wasted with this woman came at a very dear price.My projected outcome has been seriously reduced by an uncaring woman who has not been honest with her experience. I will sue as soon as my health permits.

I accompanied my loved one to his initial appointment with Dr. C. for consultation about a chronic anemia/iron deficiency problem. She spent over 30 minutes taking history, reviewing labs and establishing rapport. Dr. C. outlined a tx. plan, explaining her rationale. I am hopeful that the planned follow up will be accomplished.

I was diagnosed with CML in 2009. When I saw Dr. Cornelious the first time I really liked her. Excellent bedside manner. However, all that changed with my second visit. I found her knowledge about CML very limited. She told me Gleevac was and has been used for 25 years. Anyone who has experienced this medicine knows it was developed in 1996. Also, people didn't start using Gleevac routinely until 2000. Then she told me that Fatigue was NOT a side effect of Gleevac. I knew it was but didn't want to challenge her. I went home and looked it up again - low and behold FATIUGE IS A SIDE EFFECT of Gleevac!! If she doesn't know these simple facts - what other important facts is she going to miss in the future? looks like it is time for me to find a new oncologist.

We met Dr. Cornelius when she was at Vanderbilt. The local doctors had just found a nodule on my husband's lung. We had no problem getting in to see Dr. Cornelius and she was TERRIFIC from start to finish. This was in 2008. She saw that he was referred to a radiation oncologist who took care of the nodule. Dr. Cornelius followed his progress all the way through. She is a wonderful, caring person as well as a very competent doctor. When we learned that she was leaving Vanderbilt, my husband and I both cried. He is still cancer free today (almost 5 years later) and I credit Dr. Cornelius for him still being here with me today. Anyone that can fault with this wonderful lady must have a problem with themselves. We still miss her and have changed Oncologist's group complete since she left Vanderbilt.

This background information of 18 years of experience is total bunk and a misleading statement at best. A physician can treat patients with a years experience and provide quality care with. EXCEPTIONAL results. So.why the effort to dazzle one with information a simple inquiry will not.supportt? I.find this an affront to my ability to think as a rational person.I have.cancer not a learning disabilityDo your homework. Be viligant and do not put. Your life in this persons hands

The statement 18 years of experience for this doctor is very misleading. She has 18 years since graduation with only some years of actual practical experience. Unfortunately, this is very apparent when you see her. Your doctors competence and experience are crucial when you are dealing with cancer and this is not the case.

Lacks compassion and understanding.
