Dr. Lana I Bernstein, MD

This is the first time I am writing a negative review and especially for a medical professional's office, as I truly respect doctors for what they do. However a service is a service and it is quite disappointing when doctors managing chronic illness lack compassion. The staff is rude and obviously they are allowed to do so as they have doctors backing. For a patient that is on a medicine for last 12 years, and has been to doctor office 4 months back, followed the guidance and follow-up test recommended by the doctor is asked to make the appointment prior to doctor continuing to prescribe the medicine. My condition is such that if I am not the meds, I will be bed ridden unless I take some over the counter pain killers which are surely more harmful. My meds are mail in 3 months supply. and since my insurance changed, I had to call in for the prescription. I am on a weekly med, and it has been a week since I last took my med. Despite explaining the office I am in pain, and the… issue, rather than either ordering the prescription or giving me an earlier appointment, I am asked to wait for another 5 days.

Dr. Bernstein spends time with patients and properly evaluates their condition. I've been in to see her a few times and she also takes the time to delve into your general health as she is also an Internal Medicine MD. This is a definite plus.

This is just my personal opinion but first impressions say a lot. I think this doctor lacks compassion with people suffering with chronic, severe pain and when a patient tells this doctor the problems they have been having she needs to do a better job at listening to exactly what the patient is telling her, I felt like she took something I said and put words in mouth that I didn't say which also made me feel like she dismissed some of my complaints, that was the impression I was left with. I was disappointed. Maybe the doctor was just having a bad day? I hope that's all it was. I will give her one more chance, if things are the same then I won't be going back to this doctor. People who suffer with chronic severe pain need a doctor who not only listens to details but also understanding and compassion.

We are very pleased with Dr. Bernstein. My husband had complicated problems with his knee,(with other serious medical problems complicating the issue). Dr. Bernstein gave him a complete physical and decided he should be admitted in the hospital that day. She immediately made all the necessary arrangements to have him admitted that day and as a result had needed emergency surgery that night.

Knowledgeable and resourceful, highly competent.

Dr. Bernstein is a smart, compassionate and an incredible physician. I am blessed to have her as my physician, managing my journey through arthritis.

I have been seeing Dr. Bernstein for several years. She is smart, caring and you will be hard pressed to find a better MD! She treats patients with with respect and cares about each individual. I am lucky that she is my physician.

I have never been treated so poorly by medical professionals in my entire life. Instead of trying to help me through a medical issue, the nurse yelled at me, "THIS IS YOUR FAULT." I am SHOCKED and disgusted that people can practice medicine like this. BEWARE.

Dr. Bernstein is extremely knowledgeable and her ability to quickly arrive at the correct diagnosis is superb. She is one of if not the best physician in her field in the metro NY area.
