Dr. Larina Vladimirovna Gutenberg, DO

Today I had an appointment with pain specialist Dr. Larina Gutenberg (SA Pain Clinic) to discuss Epidural Steroid Injections (ESI) for my ailing lumbar region. I am 86 year old, a retired geo-scientist. I was asked for a urine sample which was exempted since I was not asking for any pain medication. I never had a chance to see or talk to this doctor. Upon arrival I was given a small tablet-like device where I had to answer psychology-based questions about daily stress (of course, I am in pain) about drinking (I never drink nor smoke) and like inquisitive vetting all before I was allowed to see her to discuss the possibility of ESI. This doctor is so scared of her patients that she relies on a “psychology device” to screen them. Is metal detector the next before seeing a so-called pain specialist or a body guard ready to tackle a patient when complaining gets too hard to handle? Avoid this doctor, you might be hauled away to a psychiatric ward! Albin K. Kerekes

Great Doctor! Highly recommend!!

After suffering for ten years with occipital, trigeminal, orbital and Temporel neuralgia, I recently went to Dr. Gutenburg for help stepping down on my VERY HIGH DOSE OF OPIATES! After the first visit she cut my medication to a little less than a 1/4 of my current medication. I was not able to stick with that and ran out a bit early. When I returned to explain why, all she would say is “I CANNOT WRITE ANOTHER SCRIPT FOR YOU”!! Even though I was completely off everything for almost 2 weeks! JUST KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING TO GUTENBURG FOR ANY KIND OF HELP, EXPECT TO BE TREATED LIKE A DRUG ADDICTED!! And a complete LOW LIFE!! THIS WOMAN HAS ZERO BUSINESS BEING A DOCTOR BECAUSE IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT SHE IS IN MEDICINE FOR THE MONEY AND NOT TO HELP PEOPLE AT ALL!!

Great and very understanding Dr. I would recommend Dr Gutenberg to everyone if you really care for your health.

I felt Dr. Gutenberg was very thorough, I did not feel rushed, She allowed me to give my history and concerns. we even went over my recent medical, masses found in the breasts , she was concerned and even referred me to another Doctor.

The operator is rude. So far, out of all the receptionists only one is very attentive. Dr Guthenberg is okay until you question her diagnosis or prescribed medications. She gets inpatient. I am happy with her PA and pray I don't have to see Dr Guthenberg. I'm still looking for another pain doctor because, her staff is rude and inpatient.

I am in agreement with the lady that wrote about staff. I Had a 75.00 bill that was one week old and paid 50.00 of It I had a follow up one week later, when I went up to the window 1st rude lady tells me about the remaining balance, I explained that I would pay it off the first of the month, and she had to summon for a very unprofessional "office Manager", which had agreed that it would be ok to pay in a week until I told her that the lady at the front desk Could possiblity benefit from training on patient care and I felt she had no empathy for patients, I was hurting very bad at the time and thought patient care should have been first. She was treating patients as if they were prisoners. Well, little did I know that the "manager " was no different, with a blink of an eye she decided that I would need to pay full amount before I saw the doctor, and her reason was, if I do it for you I have to do it for everyone, I'm sorry. I asked if I could speak with her boss and she said there… was no one higher then her. Needless to say, I left hurting so bad without seeing the Dr. I had to go to emergency room. I now have a Dr. that owns her practice, with professional staff and a very clean office.

I have been going to her for a year now and have only seen her two times in 12 mths. I have chronic back pain for I was in an accident 3yrs ago, you would think she would have more of a plan to help me. Her PA is OK, but when you go to the Dr. you expect to see her some of the time, just to see how you are doing... Also, the past 4 visits I have had a run in with the front office lady, and from my understanding she is very disrespectful to most everyone that comes in the office. I plan on finding someone new who cares...
