Dr. Larissa Lealani Lealani Fujii Lau, MD

Do not recommend.

Dr. Fujii-Lau has been my gastroenterologist for almost 5 years now. She is extremely competent and has excellent hands (for performing complicated procedures). She is intelligent and well-trained and appears to keep up with the scientific literature. She has consistently responded quickly to my inquiries and messages and provides clear, albeit succinct, responses. That is exactly what I prefer. I have no idea why she has a few negative reviews. I suspect her directness might put off some patients who need a lot of hand holding. Some people might mistake that for indifference, which is not true at all. I have found her to be very caring and compassionate in a quiet way. I highly recommend her.

I do not know why people give Dr Fujii Lau such bad reviews but personally I think she is very professional and knowledgeable GI Specialist! She has great bedside manner and always explains risks for every procedure and patiently answers all the questions the patient has . She might not be very chatty but definitely is a friendly and caring physician ! I highly recommend her !

I don’t even know how she was “trained” at Mayo Clinic but before you settled for a GI doctor, do your google research on this one and there’s a justified reason why she is rated around 2.5 stars all around. I’ll give her 0-star for bedside manner. Blasting hip pop music the moment she stepped into the procedure room without any greeting. Right after the procedure, one expects the doctor to provide clear explanation and give opportunity for patient and family to ask questions, well, out of luck with this one. She walked away after saying two sentences... we were stunned. She also needs to be taught on how to work with limited English proficient patient and to utilize a professional medical interpreter when available.

I have chronic pancreatitis. I have had a few doctors prior to Dr. Fuji-Lau. I was not satisfied with their demeanor and their attention to my condition. Dr. Fuji-Lau takes a genuine interest in my condition. She has helped me to reduce flare ups and has guided me to a healthier and painfree lifestyle.

Consider others, please.

I'm not sure why others give her such a low rating but personally I think she's a great doctor! Not very talkative but that doesn't mean that she is not a good doctor or not friendly .

Fast and responsive. Returned early from vacation to do procedure. Matter of fact dialogue. Appreciated that.
