Dr. Larry M Kohse, MD

I went to see Dr Kohse for Low Testosterone after the results of 2 tests from Military Doctor came back low. I'm 5'6 and weigh 195lbs, former bodybuilder, was told over and over this was caused by me being obese and lazy. Even though I'm in the military and workout very intensely. Long story short, I changed over to the Jones Center and was treated very well. They sent me to have an MRI of the brain and it came back as me having a small tumor on the pituitary gland which was affecting my Testosterone Levels. I am very grateful that I went to see a doctor who actually listened to me and was very knowledgeable. I would never recommend Dr Kohse to anyone!

Dr. Kohse is direct, no-nonsense, smart, gets to the heart of the matter. Excellent.

After my doctor recommended that I see an endocrinologist, I made an appointment with Dr. Kohse for Type 2 Diabetes and Insulin Resistance. While he did spend a lot of time with me, he spent most of that time talking about how he was in the Tour de France and how terrible the health of Americans is. Perhaps Dr. Kohse has a lot of interesting anecdotal evidence to share on that, but an appointment where we are supposed to be discussing my health is not the time or place. He also insisted on running blood tests that I explicitly told him would come back normal. Then, he told me I was extremely overweight even though my BMI was normal. Now, at the time, I could have lost a few pounds, but I was not overweight by any means. Instead, he kept talking as though I was obese and actually told me (and I quote) that there is nothing wrong with me that running 10 miles per day won't fix. After years of doctors putting me on diabetic medicines and prescribing a diabetic diet, I thought that… was pretty interesting. Needless to say, I think Dr. Kohse is a little too self-absorbed to be a good doctor. It interferes with his ability to listen to his patients and recommend helpful suggestions. After all, we can't all run 10 miles per day, eat no processed foods, and shun Western medicine.

i saw dr. kohse for type 2 diabetes. He is very caring but will also be very blunt with you. for example, he told me i was fat and that if i did not make the necessary changes in my diet and lifestyle i would die young. it is sobering to hear it put that way but dr. kohse genuinely seemed to care.
