Dr. Larry Thomas Sirls II, MD

I found my way to Dr. Sirls following 1.5 years of bouncing around different departments and specialists at the U of M for saddle numbness and incontinence. Dr. Sirls spent a significant amount of time explaining the problem, possible causes, drawings of my anatomy and remedies to me and my husband. Even though I was the last appointment of the day, he stayed until every one of our questions were answered. He made a referral, even telling me which office to call to get a sooner appointment with his colleague, a different type of surgeon. Though I have no experience with him as a surgeon, I can say that he cares deeply about his patients and all of their concerns.

Dr. Sirls is a fantastic physician! History Before Dr. Sirls at Comprehensive Urology I was a patient at Michigan Institute of Urology (MIU). My experiences with MIU were nothing short of traumatic. Thinking back, I liken MIU to a cattle slaughterhouse. The patients are the cattle and the doctors are the butchers! Back to Dr. Sirls This guy is something special as physicians go. I would go so far to say he is probably among the best urology doctors in the entire state of Michigan and; maybe in the United States. Within one year's time, he and his colleagues were able to repair most of the damage caused by my previous physicians. The quality of my life has been drastically improved due to the work of Dr. Sirls! I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Sirls. There is simply no quit in this guy. He is the epitome of what every doctor should strive to be. Thank you Dr. Sirls!

He believes that women with any kind of urinary frequency issues have it because of pelvic floor dysfunction. He will refuse to work with you if you are unwilling or unable to go to pelvic floor physical therapy nor will he give alternatives in terms of testing for what could be wrong (because it’s ALWASY pelvic floor dysfunction) Even if, as in my case, you had done it for months in the past and it made no difference for your bladder (though it did help my pelvic pain). He refuses to believe that anyone has IC or endometriosis, even if you recite the surgical report for you endometriosis that paints a terrible pictures. He gets scarily defensive when you ask for alternatives and for testing to determine the source of the problem (he refused to test why I was having blood in my urine). When I said I couldn’t do the PT that he was pushing on me until next year because of my schedule and insurance he literally said, in a nasty tone “well that’s not my problem.” It’s hard for me to… believe that he doesn’t get a kickback for sending all of his female patients to the same group of pelvic floor physical therapists.

Outstanding and very compassionate physician who listens to the patients concerns and issues. Highly recommend!

Professional, knowledgable and sincerely caring- treats you as an individual! After three tries for bladder suspension surgery, Dr. Sirls got it right!

Dr Sirls was excellent. He truly wanted to listen and solve exactly what was wrong. He had excellent bedside manner and was very knowledgable.

Dr sirls is the kindest,most approachable physician I have ever been to. He puts you totally at ease and his medical knowlege is so apparent. I have been his patient for over ten years, through cancer and many urological problems and I trust him more than any doctor I've had.

Dr. Sirls is amazing, he performed bladder sling surgery on me and it has changed my life....no complications, I truly am as good as new thanks to Larry Sirls he rocks!
