Thorough and considerate

Radiologists don't like patients refusing MRI gadolinium contrast dyes despite the fact that the FDA and Mayo have issued drug safety warnings because it is retained in brain tissue and not easily cleared by the kidneys. Our surgeon agreed to a trans-rectal ultrasound as an alternative but "forgot" to write an order for an intravenous analgesia. Dr. Crabo made no attempt to reach the surgeon about this oversight and insisted on rescheduling with gadolinium contrast which was again refused. Not sure if he wanted to make a point with my son, but the "gently inserted probe" into a highly inflamed rectum with fistulas was perhaps misguided and my son was in agony. Per Dr. Crabo's report "The patient found the procedure extremely uncomfortable and the examination was terminated." Oddly, this young man has had several successful subsequent MRIs at 710 Birchwood Ave Mt. Baker Imaging without contrast or argument. I highly recommend that location. I would avoid Dr. Lars Crabo for his total… lack of empathy.
