Dr. Latif Ziyar, MD

I had a very disappointing experience with my psychiatrist. During our interaction, I felt rushed while trying to complete payment, and when I attempted to ask questions and advocate for myself as a patient, the conversation became hostile and unprofessional. He began cursing repeatedly, called me “irrational,” and spoke to me in a way I found completely inappropriate for a medical provider. Regardless of disagreements or frustration, I do not believe patients should be spoken to with profanity or hostility in a psychiatric setting. What also stood out to me was that during a previous visit, he asked if I could leave him a positive Google review because other clients had left negative ones. In hindsight, that felt concerning and unprofessional as well. I understand providers are busy and under stress, but professionalism and respectful communication matter — especially in mental health care. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this experience.

Thank you, Dr. Ziyar, for your guidance in helping me to better care for my father. My dad has been under your care since March 2020, when we, as a family, were in crisis mode not knowing what was happening to our dad. It has been a long road but you have remained his doctor and my helper, through good times and difficult times, and you are always so helpful in your guidance to help me maintain the most stable, comfortable and safest possible life for my dad while he’s still with us. Some days are better than others but you always help to guide me through each situation I face while taking care of my dad. Not only do you help my dad but you also take the time to give me, my dads caregiver, words of encouragement and hope and you show me much appreciation for taking care of my dad myself, in his own home. I appreciate your dedication, knowledge and the amount of care and concern you have for my dad. Thank you.

Dr. Ziyar is a very knowledgeable and compassionate psychiatrist. His unique diagnostic ability quickly got to the root cause of my problem. His office staff, Katinka, always greets me with a bright cheerful smile and kind calming words. She is wonderful!

I have been a patient of Doctor Ziyar for over a year and as far as my treatment plan and interaction with the doctor I have always been treated with respect and concern. His staff has always been polite and professional. I would highly recommend his services for any emotional needs.

I have been with Dr. Ziyar on and off for several years for a few issues and I refuse to see any other psychiatrists. I trust his opinions for treatment plans and he is always willing to go the extra mile to help his patients with their needs. I have been both in office and telehealth and it’s nice that both are available since I am now out of the area!

This place was ok when I started here as a patient about 2 years ago. I never actually saw a doctor, and after my first visit I would have monthly calls with other staff for about 5 minutes to get refills on prescriptions I had been taking for 5 and 20 years, respectively. But then my insurance company suspected they were being overbilled and this place became a nightmare. When the pharmacy was out of my medication, this place would require that I have another "appointment" to transfer it to another location. I would have to call back multiple times to make sure it was done and a few times the doctor's office got my medication wrong (as in they thought I was on anticonvulsants when I never took anything of the sort). I don't know if they just got too busy or hired terrible front desk staff but it is now very sketchy -- almost like a profit-making front without a care for patient well-being. I strongly recommend staying away if you're looking for a reputable, professional practice.
