Hello, I'm LaTrenda Washington! I'm excited to meet you and start our work together on your therapy goals.
My ideal client is someone who has unprocessed trauma and is dealing with PTSD or complex PTSD. As a result of the unprocessed trauma, they might be experiencing issues in their relationships. They may feel emotionally overwhelmed in benign situations and feel unsafe most of the time. My ideal client's goals might include reprocessing the unresolved trauma, improving their overall view of self, learning to manage their nervous system responses, (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) and recognizing and managing their triggers. They are interested in improving their relationships and overall quality of life.
I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients reprocess trauma and change the way the incident is stored in their brain. I also tech my clients to map their nervous systems so they can feel when they are about to move into dysregulation.
