Dr. Laura J Blutstein

Was a patient of Dr. Blutstein for years till distance became a problem. Very considerate, compassionate and knowledgeable. Highly recommend her as your Primary Care Physician. She even diagnosed me for a stomach ailment before the specialists did.

I had to set up an appointment with this doctor because my old doctor left the practice. I waited 45 minutes for her, in a room, on my lunch break. This was only a 15 minute appointment which turned into an hour, mainly because I waited 45 minutes for her. My intention was to get Chantix. The doctor that left the practice put me on Wellbutrin and I had bad side effects from it. Because I was not 'established' with her, Laura wanted me to schedule an appointment to be 'established' before calling in this prescription. She came into the office and apologized for being so long. She explained the side effects of the Chantix. As she was typing, she asked me if there was anything else I needed. I told her that because in the past, I had iron deficiency, b12 deficiency and d deficiency that I would like to have bloodwork done. She said that this appointment was only to meet me and it was not an appointment for history on my health. That would be another appointment . I told her that I… also wasnt planning on waiting 45 minutes for her. My time is just as valuable as hers. She proceeded to asked me how much Vitamin D I was taking. I told her that I take a multi-vitamin every day. She said she would not let me have the test until she knew how many milligrams I was taking. She does not 'believe' in vitamins. She told me if I wanted to pay $200 to have the test done then she would set it up. She noticed yes, I was anemic and schedule the bloodwork on that. She also noticed that yes, my B was abnormal so she scheduled that as well. She said that they have been extremely busy since the other doctor left the office. And this is my fault, how? I scheduled an appointment and followed their process. Now.. onto the good part. I see her stats online and this is what she writes: "My goal is for patients to understand that I can provide factual information, emotional support, conscientious effort, and honesty, and that they are ultimately responsible for their own health. "So, if I am responsible for my own health, then why do I have to fight to have a D test done? Why couldnt I find out how deficient I am, if at all? What if my body is not absorbing enough Vitamin D? "The final choice about what actually happens is up to each patient" Apparently, this second statement is false as well. It's only up to the patient when it's under her terms. I keep track of my bloodwork. I want to know my numbers. I am ultimately my own keeper and doctors don't always know everything. You ask questions and then you leave the doctors feeling like you got nowhere. Believe me, I will be finding a 'new' doctor. Any doctor will be better than this one. Oh, and by the way.. I know several other people who have been to her as well and they feel the same way.
