Dr. Laura Chelu, MD

Dr. Chelu is hands down the rudest doctor I have ever encountered in my entire life. From leaving the door open in the examine room to beckon her staff while my feet where in the stirrups, to prescribing me medication you are not supposed to take when you have kidney issues (which I have) that made me incredibly ill. That and a myriad of other issues I will never return to her office again.

The great thing about Laura is that she is very direct. I get not everyone’s cup of tea, but.. she was the perfect cup for me. Made life easy cause she never sugar coated anything. I appreciated the feedback, she took excellent care of me when I was delivering. I’ll always be grateful to her

Horrible bedside manner. I was told that I wasn't dilating and that was that. There was nothing she could do. That I would just have to sit and wait.

Dr. Chelu was incredibly prompt. I didn't wait even a minute for my room and her arrival. She was very personable, took the time to explain everything pertaining to the visit, and had a very friendly bedside manner. The staff at the SL Regional office was very friendly as well. I would highly recommend this doctor to those looking for a modern professional.

Dr Chelu is by far the BEST OB I've ever been to. She not only listens to what youre saying but she HEARS you and does everything she can to support your decision. I've never felt so supported by a doctor before! Usually doctors are set in their ways and they give you so much resistance when u even slightly go against their process, but she doesn't - and it meant everything to me. And her assisyant, Angelica, was also amazing! The each personally called me back on seperate occations before my appointment to addtess some concerns i had and it seriously made me feel like they genuinely cared! Ladies, listen your body and if you want a doc who listens to you - she is your gal! I'm very very greatful to have found her! :)

I went to see Dr. Chelu because I had been bleeding for 6 straight months. She took one look at my charts and said, "Well, you're fat. And if you'd lose weight it would go away." (I think it's important to note that I wear a size 10 on a "fat day".) She then told me, "You probably already knew you were fat before you came in, but you have to pay me to tell you so you'll do something about it." She refused to treat me unless I could prove that I could lose 10lbs over the next two months. Of course I left the office in tears and bawled for the rest of the day. Glad I have higher self-esteem than some so I didn't go into depression or an eating disorder. Got a second opinion and they found that I had a tumor, which had to be surgically removed. So glad I didn't listen to Dr. Chelu.

This was my first time visiting this office for an annual exam and it will be my last. Dr. Chelu made me feel extremely uncomfortable during my exam. I felt prodded like I was nothing more than an animal. Her extremly rude demeanor was a surprise to me as being a first time patient with her. She needs more training on how to speak with patients. I will never come back this Dr office because of her treatment.

I don't normally write reviews but it wouldn't be fair to not tell other women how great my experience has been with Dr. Chelu over the past four years. I actually look forward to my yearly well woman exam (well, as much as you can!) It is super easy to get an appointment, and the staff is exceptionally nice and professional. Dr. Chelu is professional, helpful, and will take the time to listen to you and validate your concerns. 4 stars for sure.

dont go to her if you need a hysterectomy,she is not experienced enough she cut my bladder and didnt give me the type of hysterectomy i asked for.I am still looking on her credentials,my life will never be the same due to her medical mistakes on my supposibly total hysterectomy.Had to get bladder repair and now prolasped cervix that she was suppose to remove.I has a horrible experience.She should have stated that she wasnt experienced enough to do my surgery and not use me as a genie pig to butcher up.
