Dr. Laura Jean Danz, MD

I sought out Dr. Danz initially for issues relating to GYN of older women. She was very knowledgeable and open to both holistic and traditional forms of treatment. I was impressed by her presence and genuine compassion. Ultimately, I had a hysterectomy and she did a great job. After any procedure or med change over the years, Dr. Danz has always called me personally to find out how I was doing. She is the most caring physician I know. She encourages you to make your own best decisions, no pressure, just support. I completely trust Dr. Danz and her surgical abilities as I am now looking at bladder prolapse surgery, even after a course of pelvic floor therapy she suggested. I trust her and highly recommend her. She has a patient's best interests at heart.

Dr Danz was highly recommended by my OBGYN to preform the surgery I needed. Dr Danz's explanation of the procedure and what to expect greatly relieved my anxiety and concerns. The surgery went well, no complications. I am very pleased with Dr Danz and her surgical expertise.

doctor presents as nice but invalidates symptoms and is judgmental; did not take me seriously. Seems more interested in having fun in northern Michigan than being a real doctor. She prefers upper middle class women; don't go if you have Medicaid.

I had an atrocious experience with Dr. Danz and with the Munson Hospital staff while delivering my first baby. Without going into all the details, let me just say that I was subsequently diagnosed with pelvic floor damage and PTSD (I wish I were making this up) as a result of the delivery. I realize I am not a doctor and perhaps there was nothing she could do to ease a rough delivery. However I do feel comfortable in stating that she and the hospital failed in my treatment in the following ways: 1) The epidural was not properly administered due to a spinal curvature I have. As I learned with my 2nd delivery (at a different hospital), the epidural is feasible but a more difficult procedure due to my condition. 2) I was often left alone with my husband for extended periods of time while pushing. Because the top of the baby's head appeared after 10 minutes but I pushed for another 3 hours, this was a terrifying experience. I was afraid for the baby and, since I had high blood… pressure, myself. 3) When I saw Dr. Danz for my follow up appointment and complained of symptoms of pelvic floor damage, she did an examination but did not tell me about it. It was only diagosed when I switched doctors. This is inexcusable. Should you elect Dr. Danz as your OB, I suggest you have a detailed conversation with her regarding her philosophy on pain control and delivery intervention to ensure that they align with your expectations and priorities.

She is very nice but I was not impressed with my overall experience. She doesn't seem as knowledgeable as she should be in a serious situation. When I was delivering a serious situation arose and I kept asking her what to do and she ignored me and acted as if she didn't want to tell me to do something that might have a bad result so she didn't say anything at all! I felt completely unsure of the situation I was in and didn't know what to do and she was not reassuring or helpful at all. Would not recommend..
