Dr. Laura Ellen Dinerstein, MD

Laura prescribed me Lithium which caused a great deal of side effects including weight gain and hyperhydrosis. I told her I wanted to try something else and she refused. She was dismissive when I told her about another doctor being concerned about Lithium damaging my kidneys. She did admit that this doctor was at the center of research and she was not, so this just seemed like professional jealousy. At one point the hyperhydrosis was so bad that sweat was pouring down my forehead into my eyes and hurt my eyes so much that I could hardly see. When I told her about it she just said, “oh, that’s no fun.” Did not do anything to help and clearly did not care. By contrast, a psychiatric nurse practitioner I am now seeing took the hyperhydrosis seriously and referred my to an internist as she said an internist would be the best person to treat it. Laura certainly never did this. This internist also urged me to get off Lithium due to all the side effects and the possibility of kidney… damage. The nurse practitioner is on board with this and we are now planning to taper off. My psychiatric nurse practitioner has been a lot more helpful. I never thought before that a psychiatric nurse practitioner would be more helpful than a psychiatrist but Laura Dinerstein has definitely made it possible.

The most unprofessional doctor I’ve ever dealt with. Wouldn’t let me finish a sentence without cutting me off and telling me I was wrong. Raising her voice and everything. Absolutely absurd. The most inconsiderate, childish doctor I have ever met. Never going to have to deal with her again.

Dr. Dinerstein is thorough, knowledgeable and has a great breath of experience. She provides me with enough time to discuss my concerns and has helped me immensely. My spouse feels I am a much happier and less anxious person following her treatment. Highly recommend her.

Laura Dinerstein prescribed me "controlled" substances like they were candy, and this tendency of hers eventually led to me getting severely addicted to both Adderall and Ativan. I've never had to put as much effort into anything in my whole life as fighting this terrible disease and ridding my body and my brain of these nasty drugs.

I have been a patient of Dr. Dinerstein's for about 3 years. Recently I've moved and have had some difficulty finding a doctor of the same caliber within my area. I now have a new found apprection for Dr.Dinerstein. She is great at what she does.

...I have seen the doctor twice before I left the country for a year. I just moved back to the US and I called her to leave a message to ask if I could make an appointment, with no response. I was confused because her bedside manner had been caring in the past. Desperate because I have severe clinical depression, and was now out of my anti-depressants, I phoned a second and third time and left messages on her voice mail, asking if she could just call in my perscription if she couldnt see me, crying and explaining that I was afraid of what was happening and that my "situation was extremely URGENT". This was over a week ago and... I still have had no response. Not even a call back to say, "sorry im too busy". NOTHING. I became suicidal as a result of being unmedicated for too long, and THANK GOD for my general practitioner who I finally reached out to as she came through and got me a script. I feel fine now, but I cannot believe that Dr Dinerstein, who I trusted with my life, could… ignore a patient in a fatal situation.

I have been seeing Dr. Dinerstein for over a year. She accurately diagnosed my issues and helped me with appropriate treatment. She has been professional, thorough and comprehensive.
