Laura C Gemmell, MD

Dr. Laura Gemmell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Her passion for reproductive medicine began while earning her Master of Science in Clinical Embryology at the University of Oxford, where working in an IVF laboratory gave her a deep appreciation for the critical role of embryology in successful fertility treatment.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts with High Honors in Human Evolutionary Biology from Harvard College, a Doctor of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Dr. Gemmell is an active member of the American Medical Association, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor …Medical Society, and serves as a Junior Ambassador for the World Endometriosis Society.
She is committed to providing compassionate, individualized care and welcomes patients with all fertility concerns. Her research and academic interests include male factor infertility, reproductive genetics, fertility preservation, and assisted reproductive technologies. Dr. Gemmell was recently honored with the Sloan Hospital for Women Excellence in Teaching Award in recognition of her commitment to medical education and mentorship.
