Dr. Laura M Gesicki-Wood, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Gesicki since she took over the practice several years ago from a series of temporary doctors who staffed the practice after Dr. Wilbur left. She has NAILED the medication regime for controlling my asthma. I am a life-long sufferer of moderate asthma which used to be induced by cold weather, illness, exercise and animals. Now, the only thing that causes me major problems is animals, and the occasional upper respiratory infection. She took the time needed to discuss and analyze the history of my condition and tried a series of medications before determining exactly what I need to be healthy 98% of the year. I rarely leave the house with an emergency inhaler now. I have recommended friends to Dr. Gesicki because I trust her analysis. Her administrative staff could be a bit more friendly and enthusiastic on the phone, and her office hours are limited, but the care is the best I've had in a life-long battle with asthma.

Dr. Gesicki-Wood is very nice but I felt it very inappropriate to have her son in the room during my appointment, not to mention the 2 hours she kept me waiting in waiting room and another hour in the exam room. She spent a great deal of time with me answering my questions but her seemingly caring bedside manner is unfortunately overshadowed by her inability to follow up or even bother to return phone calls. I didn't realize she was not board certified in allergy and apparently has no desire to do so. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to such a poorly run practice.

My daughter has been going to this center for three years for shots. On the Friday of memorial day weekend, the nurse who adminsters the shots, told my daughter she was a minute late past the cut-off time and refused to give her a shot. I spoke to this nurse and told her the clock she has was 7 minutes fast. She said "well, I go by the clock and she's a minute late, so she'll have to come back next week" That meant the follow Tues., since the office was closed on that Monday. Her actions and demeanor that day was the last straw...we are going to another doctor. My husband also went to this office for two years and stopped going due to these extremely nasty nurses and desk staff. It's too bad because Dr. Wood is very nice. Watch the billing also, they double bill with a very confusing system. We've caught them double billing quite a few times. Dr. Wood needs to fire the staff or maybe being difficult and nasty is a job requirement!

Although this allergist is good at finding out what you are allergic to, her office staff is very unfriendly. Also, they do not manage her time very well. The two nurses who administer the shots are the only competent people there. I have found another doctor who has better office hours and a frienflier office staff.
