Dr. Laura Ann Gillespie, MD

My child is a patient of Dr. Gillespie’s and I am very satisfied with her care. Dr. G includes the whole family when making treatment recommendations and suggestions. Eating disorders are really difficult to treat, but I feel confident that my child is well on their way to recovery. It’s hard as a parent to feel like you’ve failed your kid because they’ve developed an eating disorder, but Dr. G does not make us feel bad. She values and relies on our input and it’s helped our child immensely. I won’t take my child anywhere else.

Dr. G is absolutely the best doctor that I’ve seen for my eating disorder. She challenges my eating disorder thoughts every week and follows through to help me reach those goals. She is very easy to talk to and I value her advice immensely. She has decades of experience and I trust her with my life. She is the best person in NE Ohio and I feel so lucky to be her patient.

Dr. Gillespie has been caring for my child for over a year. Dr. Gillespie’s knowledge and expertise in caring for adolescents with eating disorders has been life saving. She treats the patient and the family. We never feel rushed, she answers all of our questions, and a plan is put into place based on our discussions. She goes above and beyond to care for her patients and is always available by email. We are extremely thankful for the care we receive.

Dr. G is the best doctor that I have ever seen. She is incredible empathic and puts her patients first. Continuity of care is extremely important to her. She has literally saved my life and continues to help me navigate through some very tough things. She does all she can to make you feel calm during difficult times. I absolutely trust her with my life and would never go to anyone else. She takes her role as a physician to the highest level possible. She is amazing!!

In working with eating disorders, she is often has to deliver news she knows will be met with resistance and/or fear by patients and sometimes parents as well. Lady G does her best to offer methods to navigate the anxiety and discomfort patients will likely experience in pursuit of fulfilling her medical recommendations. Doctor G holds hard limits however, she is very caring and understanding. She lets me choose music to play during my appointments so I won’t feel so nervous ??. She has been a core pillar of my support system for a decade or so and I trust her care completely. She’s not money hungry or dismissive. I know for a fact her care for her patients transcends finances and she maintains a calm tone of voice because it’s often very helpful in keeping her patients calm.

Dr. Gillespie is one of the best physicians I have seen. Not only does she take the time to get to know her patients and their medical needs, but she provides amazing support and shows confidence in her work. She has helped saved my life in so many ways. I trust Dr. Gillespie with all of my treatment needs and am so grateful to have her as a care provider.

Dr. G. will fill your heart with fear until you agree to hospitalize your child and enroll them into her care via The Emily Program. I decided to enroll my child in the Emily Program and after the first day there I politely yet firmly withdrew her from Dr. G.’s care. The following morning I received a call from Dr. G. herself who extolled the virtues of the program and blubbered on about her deep concern for my child. She must not have been too distraught as I could hear her chewing food in between breaths. I politely explained why I was taking my daughter elsewhere; however, when Dr. G. began to speak over me is when I became more assertive in my statements. When faced with the reality of losing us as clients, I was coldly informed that I would be reported to Child Protective Services for medically neglecting my child. I welcomed an investigation, thanked her for her time and hung up. CPS was at my home three days later. To end on a happy note, I just got off the phone with… the CPS Social Worker who informed me that the case is being closed tomorrow and that I, in her opinion, have received numerous gold stars for being a great Mom! The cherry on top will come tomorrow after she calls my ex-husband to inform him that the investigation was opened and closed with no problems found and that I’m doing an awesome job as single parent to our daughter!

This is my second attempt to post a review of Dr. G. My heartfelt plea to you is run...do not walk...away from this woman!
