Dr. Laura Ann Mcmillan, MD

I had a horrible experience with this doctor. I'm overall happy with the results of my surgery, but the experience was emotionally really impactful to me, and if I could go back in time, I would go with a different doctor. She was cold on the day of my surgery and said some wildly offensive things to me in my first post-op appointment. I ended up seeing a PA for my later post-op appointments due to feeling uncomfortable seeing her again, which the PA I spoke with did not seem surprised to hear. It was validating and healing seeing that some other reviewers here had similar experiences with her, although I'm sorry they did. I'm kind of horrified Kaiser allows a doctor to treat her patients the way she does.

Had a consultation with Dr. Mcmillan, and i was super nervous and worried while i was waiting to see her (which i didnt have to wait very long) but she made all my worries go away. The second she walked in the room, she was so friendly and just had a good vibe about her. She answered every questions i had before i even had to ask them! she has a great sense of humor and i am so excited she will be doing my surgery!!

Dr. Mcmillan treated my decades long gender dysphoria by performing my gender confirmation surgery. The man in the mirror finally matches the man in my mind. I am beyond happy with the results, her care and the whole Kaiser Trans team in San Diego, especially her staff at Copley. I can recommend her wholeheartedly.

I went in today scared as most patients would be for their fist time consultation. But I was greeted and attended by such a caring and understanding Dr. That I am excited to go back. She was very friendly and proffesional, I didnt feel rushed and was very pleased with my consultation

I am female to male transgender and went to Dr. McMillan for top surgery. She took her time to go over my options and explained thoroughly the answers to all my questions. I agree with the other person's review that she let me choose which method I wanted to go with [I chose periareolar over double incision] rather than push me to choose what she thought I should go with. I am surprised by the negative reviews because she is so caring and listened to all my concerns and was so positive. She and her staff are also great about using the right pronouns and your preferred name even if you have not yet changed them legally. The results are amazing! My chest looks better than I expected it to. I would definitely recommend this doctor.

I am so thankful that kaiser enlists such great surgeons with extensive expertise. I was given appointments immediately to suit my needs. She is amazing, kind, caring, and makes you feel incredibly comfortable despite pre-surgery nerves that one might have. She thoroughly explained everything to me and allowed me to choose my plan of attack with her as opposed to other surgeons that just tell you what you should agree to allow them to do. I'm so thrilled with the results and enthused by the minimal scarring with her latest techniques. She truly changed my life in a great way.

Dr. McMillan really knows what she is doing. She did a tramflap reconstuction surgery on me, and the results are amazing. When she came to see me after surgery, other patients wanted to know who she was because she was so caring. She is the doctor you want to go to if you are having breast work done.

I feel very fortunate to have had Dr. McMillan operate on me. She took ample time to get to know me and she was sympathetic to my problem. She was kind and courteous. The surgery turned out amazing and has imporved my life! I am so happy with her and Kaiser!

I had surgery recently from this doctor, didn't listen to a word I said, horrible bed side manner. Acted like she was trying to get rid of me, fast. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone, seriously. If you get stuck with this doctor, ask for someone else. I'm going to schedule a revision with a more competent doctor when I have time and have healed adequately.

Amazing doctor who was very comforting and incredibly trustworthy. She did an amazing job with my melanoma surgery.
