Dr. Laura Petrescu, MD

I am so thrilled to be a patient of Dr. Laura Petrescu. Quite honestly, she is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. That combined with her professionalism, years of experience and knowledge base make her the perfect doctor for me. I have never had an appointment with her where I have felt rushed or where my concerns have not been heard. She answers all of my questions and concerns clearly and completely, listening intently and not focusing on a computer screen. I consider it a privilege to be working with this exceptional woman doctor and I look forward to many more years of partnering with her to help me meet and perhaps even exceed my health care goals. I am confident that with her as my doctor I will have the information I need to age as healthily and as gracefully as possible. Thank you Dr. Petrescu!

I thought I finally had someone who’d listen to my symptoms and the severity of my situation but I was wrong. She abruptly took me off a long-time anxiety medication because she decided she “didn’t like” that I’d been on it long term. I returned later with higher blood pressure, heart rate and sobbing from lack of sleep. It was only then she agreed to “bridge” this medication I’ve taken nonissue for years until I saw a psychiatrist. So I get a list from her office and it’s full of providers who weren’t taking new patients or were an hour away. I still have no care and no one followed up with me.

Dr. Petrescu was right on the money with a quick diagnosis after listening to my symptoms. However, the follow-ups were disappointing as she dismissed my symptoms and questions for continued care. The worst experience was the interaction with the support staff from the PA’s to the office staff. Medications were not recorded correctly, requesting a refill was a nightmare, getting test results became a full-time job. This staff DOES NOT READ the requests and certainly doesn’t pay attention to what the patient is asking for. When the requests are in writing there is no excuse to not be able to know what the patient is requesting. Furthermore, after signing an authorization to allow test results to be left on voicemail, each and every single person that called me refused to leave the actual result - they’d leave a message for me to call them back. That meant I’d have to recite the same thing over and over to get to the person that had the results. When I asked why the last person didn’t… just leave the test results on the voicemail as I requested, the answer she gave was, “I think she’s too embarrassed”! Really, you work in a doctor’s office. BTW the result was a positive on the test so how is this an embarrassing result to leave for a patient?! I fired all of them and moved to a private doctor and URMC.
