Dr. Laura Ellen Scherf, MD

Short and quick to "do her thing" and on to the next item on her agenda. Left feeling she had better things to do than spend time getting to know me/my circumstances.

Understanding that healthcare is in the midst of huge changes I have seen Dr. Scherf on three seperate occassions. Each time she was extremely rushed and did not take my concerns seriously. Additionally, as a previous reviewer mentioned, when she recommended a referral she advised that her office would call me to help arrange the referral, never did I hear from them. My biggest disatisfaction would have to be Dr. Scherf's tendancy to respond to concerns with the phrase, "What do you think?" Do I need to look in to this further? "What do you think?" As a patient I am not an objective party to my concerns. I go to the doctor to have them tell me whether something is of concern or not or if a concern requires additional testing and / or treatment. The patient should not direct the care plan. It almost felt as if she was winging it, or as if she was so afraid of a lawsuit that she never wanted to be affirmative. Anyway, although I think she is a nice person, I would not recommend… establishing care with Dr. Laura Scherf.

Dr. Scherf has provided my family and I years of the best medical care we have ever had. She is the most personable and caring doctor I have ever visited. She helped my wife and I through some very difficult diagnoses. We moved to another city and had to change doctors. But the reason I came across this site is because I was looking up her contact information. We're going to travel 40 miles to see Dr. Scherf again.

I was very disappointed in Dr. Scherf after a recent visit. She informed me she would locate a psychiatrist for me, as well as a social worker, and contact me with this information. Instead, a third party contacted me simply with namess and phone numbers for clinics - none of which were with an actual psychiatrist but rather a CNS, which I expressly stated I did not want. The information provided to me was information I could have easily obtained online or in the phone book.Very poor service.
