Met my child for five minutes and decided she isn't autistic because she is conversational and can point at things--autistic girls present differently from autistic boys, do they not? Gave some really old school suggestions for how to handle big feelings. I'm not going to withhold comfort from my child when she's having a meltdown. I'm raising a human, not training a dog. (I'm a dog trainer and a mom, toddlers aren't dogs!) It seems as though she didn't read the pre-appointment questionnaire that we had to fill out because she was unaware of key details about our child's medical history--important details like the week long NICU stay and the fact that we both almost died. Waited three months to see her. I'm tired of doctors who don't listen or at least make an effort to read the charts they make us fill out before our visits. As parents, it's our job to advocate for our children. We will not be seeing her again and will seek supportive care elsewhere.
