Dr. Slaughter is a board-certified psychiatrist currently practicing at our McKinney location. She received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Kansas in 1989 and her M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in 1994. In 1998, she completed her residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

She completed her fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at UT Southwestern in 1999. Dr. Slaughter has served as a staff psychiatrist for the Collin County Detention Center (1999 – 2002) and was medical director of Day Rise Recovery in Allen, Texas (2007 – 2017).

I have been with Dr. Slaughter for at least 4 years. She had her own practice for most of that time. About a year or so ago, she sold out to a huge medical place. I dont get to go into her beautiful office any longer. There are cold exam rooms that are 'made up' as a place to talk. When you call, it goes directly to a call center. Also, good luck in getting someone to send a message to the McKinney office, for anyone to call you back. She has changed her way of treating. She went from caring, compassionate, and empathetic. She doesnt take time to really listen. Instead, her face in her laptop, and barely looks up to actually see what her clients are saying. Im pretty sure she sold her practice to this huge medical place to just sit back and quickly get her patients in and out. She's not a good doctor any longer. It makes me incredibly sad to type this out. I miss her and her kindness. Now, im just stuck with the 'new' her.

After 3 appointments with Dr. Slaughter, I feel like my treatment has only backslided. She does not seem to listen very well during my appointments about my history or concerns. She is quick to suggest certain medications that I have reacted badly to in the past. I have to repeat myself and still do not feel heard or understood. I also try to bring up my concerns with her nurses and techs. They remind me how busy the doctor is, and then I never hear back from anyone. What good doctor is always too busy for their own patients? Especially when their condition is declining. I am having trouble building any level of trust in this practice.

I went early in the morning without having any breakfast and had to wait for more than one and half hour s because they just changed my appointment time without notifying me. Very unprofessional

Dr Slaughter seems very knowledgeable, compassionate and open to discussing treatment options.

Doctor Slaughter is a good doctor. She really listens and takes her time each visit. However making an appointment or getting refills is difficult. It took me weeks to get an appointment after needing to reschedule and felt impossible to get my prescriptions filled.
