Dr. Laura Smith, MD

I saw 4 Dr's, 2 in the ultrasound & 2 for the consult after. My ultrasound Dr. was very clear & concise as to what she found. She was also very concerned as to my pain level. This was an abnormally painful procedure due to the mass on my cervix.

I drove all the way to RMSCVA at the recommendation of a friend after a bad experience with an infertility doctor in Roanoke. Dr. Smith was a breath of fresh air! She's a fast talker : ) but over the course of my first visit with her, she asked me a lot of questions to find out more about my situation, gave explanations (and drawings!) of what should be happening and what might be presenting problems for me, and explained everything every step of the way through the physical exam and the following tests. I trusted her instantly by her friendliness, professionalism, and obviously thorough knowledge. She presented treatment options for me, but gave caring insight as to what she recommended and why. When I set up surgery, she was able to explain everything to me as well. I did eventually end up getting pregnant! But even afterwards, she and her office set up an appointment and followed up with me to be sure the baby and I were safe. Even if you have to drive - this doctor and office are… worth the trip!

I can't say enough about Dr. Smith! I have been having fertility issues for about two years & Dr.'s Smith & Bateman have been with me every step of the way. Still no BFP but with God everything is possible! My only issue I have with this office are some of the staff. Since I've been a regular patient for some time, I honestly think they are just annoyed by me now. Linda (receptionist) & Glenna (nurse) can be difficult to work with. Watch out if you question anything...they become very offended. It's clear to me that they can pretty much act how they want b/c they are not held accountable. They run the show. Infertility is a tough reality, it would help to have kind people to help along the way! It's unfortunate b/c Everything else has been great.

Not only did Dr. Smith make me feel comfortable, but also took the time to sit and talk to me about options, about possible problems, about everything. She made sure to explore every avenue to find the exact problem and start trying to fix it. I would reccommend her to anyone! Definately an asset to this practice.
