Dr. Laurel A Feiner, MD

Her staff keeps losing the appointments, twice in my case. She sees you for 5 mintutes. She misdiagnosed Mystenia and her recommended neurolist was 1 hour away. She also lost the appointment, and saw me for 5 minutes. Took a bunch of tests. Before test were done, I told Laura the pills were making me very ill and making my eyes worse. She still thought I should take half a pill even though they did nothing. She refused to accept she was wrong. Then she suggested I "try" predizone. I said no way, because I am a diabetic. She suggested I go on insulin. I said no. So she then said I would live with a patch on my eye for ever abd was kind of snippy about it. She sounded weird, my husband was there and her agreed. Neither Laura nor the neurologist friend of hers called me. Neurologist never ever called to discuss anything because tests were all negative. I took a CT scan, pulmonary, MRI, the works. Finally I cancelled with Feiner and went to a decent eye doctor in Wills Eye. … They invested more than an hour and reviewed everything, even the disks with the MRIs and discussed among colleges. They diagnosed me with diabetic 3rd nerve palsy and said it would self resolve. They were right because it did is a few weeks. I think these doctors are not competent and don't mind putting you through pain and suffering as long as they get paid and see as many patients as possible during the day. I understand she is retiring. Good.

When I arrived at Dr. Feiner's office (I had been referred by another ophthalmologist.) She was totally familiar with my situation, and went out of her way to provide a thorough explanation of my options, prognosis, etc. I left her office feeling confident and pleased at her up front explanations. I plan to return to her office in short period of time, as she advised. One aspect that I felt was not up to standards was that the physician who referred me provided a cover letter, photos of my eye issues etc. Yet, when I had completed the paperwork, her receptionist told me a bit too bluntly that without a "note" from my Doctor referring me, I could not be seen. I believe that this was an unfortunate attitude to take under the circumstances, and the message was not delivered in a particularly pleasant manner - I believe Dr. Feiner should take this up with her referrals person - while I understand that patients can be a big pain when they don't cooperate with what they're asked,… instead of volunteering to phone the referring doctor and smoothing out a rough situation. There are ways to handle difficult situations, especially with an acutely ill patient than this,

I had a appointment with this doctor, made three months ago. Arrived without my insurance cards. I was told that I would have to re-schedule since I didn't have my insurance card with me. I would have paid for the visit, but I was not given that option. It is a sad thing to think that in this case the health of the patient did not come first.

I was a patient of Dr. Laurel Feiner for 10 years. In the early years, Dr. Feiner was a patient, caring and engaging Dr. I felt lucky to have found a down to earth Dr. However, over the past 4 years, Dr. Feiner and her practice has changed. She is in an upscale office, she now has an optometrist on staff (which charges extra) and please, please plan on waiting at least 2 hours, if not more. When I was the first patient of the day at 8:15 (please note, three other patients are the 1st patient of the day) I have not left the office until at LEAST 10:00 AM and sometimes later. When I was the last patient of the day, I waited 2 hours and 20 minutes. When I discussed my concerns with Dr. Feiner, in a pompous/arrogant tone Dr. Feiner stated "times change" (an exact quote) My response was and so do pateints. I collected a copy of my chart and I left and I will definitely find another Dr. In my opinion, any Dr. that does not value his/her patients is not that great.
