Dr. Lauren Brown

Lauren Brown is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience in mental health care. She has a passion for working with women of color, specifically Black women and couples. Lauren has extensive experience working with many populations, such as ex-offenders reunifying with their families, those seeking employment, and severely and persistently mentally ill individuals at a state-run psychiatric facility. Areas of expertise include forensics, people with severe and persistent mental illness, and vocational stressors. Lauren has a Master's in Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Rutgers University. Lauren has extensive knowledge and experience working with people with eating disorders, self-esteem issues, changing eating habits and body image. Lauren uses CBT therapeutic inventions and nutrition to help support a healthy lifestyle. Lauren also uses CBT and teaches coping skills, including reframing and grounding. Lauren believes that she can help you …normalize your feelings by reframing and looking at the bigger picture. She is not your average therapist. Lauren’s sessions are “girlfriend” sessions, where you talk about your life and she uses her knowledge to suggest helpful changes. She is firm but empathetic and will support you through your wellness journey.
