Dr. Lauren Elizabeth Daugherty, MD

"You will need an emergency surgical procedure" is never a phrase that anyone wants to hear; yet, at some point in our lives, we may hear it uttered about ourselves or a loved one. When it is presented, there can be feelings of uncertainty, vulnerability, or a lack of medical literacy. When we met Dr. Daugherty, bedside in the surgical prep area of Wake Med North, we could not have been more assured or empowered that this procedure was going to be handled with the utmost confidence, professionalism, and medical competence. Dr. Daughtery was a gift to us and the entire surgical profession. Her technical skill, precision, calm demeanor, and judgment in critical moments under pressure were exemplary, and her combination of humility and commitment to excellence made us feel heard and respected. I can not BEGIN to praise Dr. Daughtery enough.. she is truly a surgeon of rare excellence; someone patients can trust with their lives. For this, and so much more, we are grateful.
