Dr. Lauren Elizabeth Geller, MD

VERY unhappy with my experience with Dr. Geller and her staff. I took my two week old son to her with spots on his fingernails that were tested and came back positive for traces of staph. The nurse practitioner or assistant or whoever called me with those results (why did the doctor herself not call me to explain) very nonchalantly told me to apply antibiotic cream to my sons nails for 10 days and let them know if it didn’t go away. The severity of the situation was definitely not stressed enough, because fast forward a few days and we are on our third day in the hospital due to the staph infection spreading all over his face, which we have been told multiple times, could have been FATAL. I’m disgusted with the practice’s lack of concern for such a serious situation that has now led to a much bigger problem for us. Shame on Dr. Geller for not calling us herself to discuss results and stress any precautions we should have taken to avoid the spread. I will not be back to this practice… and would never recommend to someone who mattered to me.

If I could give zero stars I would. This doctor misdiagnosed my daughter, told her ( 6 yr. old ) and I that she had Alopecia and would most likely continue to lose hair. She didnt even bother to perform a proper head exam. She spent five minutes with us. After giving us the diagnosis walked out of the room. She was extremly cold and abbrassive. We ended up seeing another Ped.Dernatolgst bc I was not coninced. The Dr. was amazing and assured us that after examination she did not in fact have Alopecia. It was an isolated incidet. He took the time to thoroughly examine her. I would not recommed Dr.Geller under any circumstances. She caused us nothing but uneccesary stress and grief.

My child has been diagnosed with a form of IBS, she prescribed Clindamycin and said it was fine. After researching, Clindamycin liquid, pills or topical should not be prescribed to anyone who has these issues. Glad I threw it away and got another doctor.

My daughter was born, after a long hard pregnancy with Hemangeomatosis, or multiple hemangiomas. She wanted to prescribe Hemangeol, but after all of her organ scans came back clear and I read up on this drug I decided not to put my daughter on it for fear of possible side effects. The most common of these side effects being night terrors, low blood sugar, and low heart rate, to more rare ones like seizures and COMPLETE HEART STOPPAGE. Dr. Geller represented the night terrors as 'sleep disturbances', mentioned the low blood sugar and heart rate but managed to avoid mentioning the more serious possibilities. After I explained my stance, and the research I had done she proceeded to argue with me while repeatedly commenting that she only wants what's best for my daughter. Well, so do I. A week after I declined the treatment I get a call from my pediatrician, again telling me about the marvels of Hemangeol. When asked what prompted the call, she stated that Dr. Geller spoke… with her but neglected to mention that we had started an alternative treatment. This was presumably an effort to sway me by using a Doctor I had better rapport with. The next time I had a pediatric visit, I was asked to give a blood sample and stool sample from my daughter as ordered by Dr. Geller. I suggest you only use Dr. Geller if you are willing to blindly follow her advice, because if not she will make you feel like an unfit parent and is relentless in pushing her own agenda no matter how well informed the parent is. Again, my daughter only has superficial hemangiomas and while large in size with the possibility of scarring, I still find preferable to even the mild side effects, not to mention the serious ones.
