I am sharing this review to reflect my personal experience and to offer caution to others who may be considering care with this provider. As a person of color, I did not feel culturally understood or supported in this therapeutic relationship. Important cultural context and lived experiences were frequently misunderstood or taken out of context, which significantly affected the quality and safety of the care I received. The guidance and frameworks used often felt narrowly applied and did not account for differences in background, identity, or systemic realities that shape the experiences of many people of color. Over time, I felt judged rather than supported. Instead of feeling guided toward clarity and healing, I left sessions feeling increasingly confused, emotionally unsettled, and unsupported. The therapeutic process ultimately led me into a darker emotional space, and when I needed consistent care and accountability most, I experienced what felt like abandonment rather than… professional continuity or closure. This experience has unfortunately deepened my mistrust of the medical and mental health system, particularly given the well-documented disparities in how people of color are treated and supported within it. Mental health care should feel safe, validating, and culturally responsive. That was not my experience here. I hope this review encourages providers to reflect more deeply on cultural competence and encourages prospective clients to advocate for care that truly honors their full identity and lived experience.
