Dr. Lauren Ciel Swerdloff, MD

Lauren Swerdloff is NOT a doctor. She is a criminal. BEWARE OF HER BILLING PRACTICES! She will rip you off!!!!! Trust these reviews. First, she makes you wait an hour and a half in her filthy waiting room. She’ll make you sign a Medicare ABN that is incredibly confusing, and illegally altered. Even if you’re far from 65, everyone gets the same confusing document. I left the “yes, I want these services” boxes blank and questioned her about why I have a Medicare ABN in the first place and she said this form didn’t apply to me and would scratch through it. Months later, when in a dispute with my insurance company and they sent me a copy of what she sent them, I discovered she drew lines all the way down the YES column and falsified legal documents. She won’t let you leave her office without making you pay an additional $250 - $500, even though she’s an in-network doctor for most of the major insurance companies. Years later she will send you a bill for thousands of dollars,… even after being paid by your insurance. She refuses to break down the “amount due” into line item charges and if you challenge her on it, she sends a collection agency after you and sues you in small claims court. If you actually look at your insurance EOB (Explanation of Benefits) you’ll discover that she types in a ton of codes to justify the time she lied about spending with you. If you Google them, like I did, you’ll discover that she makes up diseases that you supposedly have. Plus she’ll charge your insurance for “a visit” “an extended visit” and “an extended, extended visit”. Not only is she committing insurance fraud, she’s ruining her patients permanent health records by fabricated health ailments!!!! And according to other ex-patients that I have talked to, she'll lie to you about having some disease and have to start expensive supplemental treatments right away. She had prescribed two pain-relief hand creams for me that totaled $100,000 a year. YES, $100k. That is not a type-o. I declined the prescriptions when picking them up. She'll do anything to make a buck. This “alternative medicine” doctor is alternative all right; she’s a THIEF and belongs in jail!!!!! Plus, she sucks as a doctor.

She double dips for patients she's in insurance network with. She charges insurance and then she charges patient directly for alternative treatments she claimed she performed and for which she estimates the insurance would not pay. Since she is in network, the insurance needs to decide whats covered, not her. The bills she sends directly to patients come years after the actual visit and she refuses the explain what the service is she's billing the patient for. Happened to me and two friends. With regards to the medicine she practices: she put me on high dose of Valtrex for a year, in case i had EBV. She also wanted me on an antibiotic for a year to ward off any possible arthritis in the future...

Non transparent practices. Does not enable patients to give informed consent on the cost of their specific treatment. Requires signing a generic NDA that makes people responsible for all non covered expenses without explaining to the patient what their specific not covered expenses are, when she is performing them and why they are necessary.

Dr. Swerdloff is very knowledgeable and wants to give the best treatment. In my experience though she offers too many unnecessary tests and preventive treatment options some of which are not even proven yet. For example she has tried several times to put me on a year long antibiotic treatment to prevent arthritis. I checked with a rheumatologist, and he mentioned he would never recommend that treatment to any of his patients. It is mandatory to see her to get your lab results, which incurs more expense. She spends hours going through the lab results, explaining how the different elements tested work in a body. It is interesting once. It is a waste of time to have to sit through every time you have any labs done with her. At least in my case the information is both over my head and not actionable. Perhaps this would be valuable for someone with complicated medical issues, but in my case it is truly overkill. The financial part is devastating. She has always known I am on a budget. She… did not let me know the true cost of a visit with her until a year and a half later where she informed me I owed her an additional $250 to $500 per visit in addition to what the insurance already paid. She knows I cannot afford it and she knows i would have stopped seeing her had she informed me of the true cost in a timely manner.

Worst doctors visit ever. Long wait time, very unprofessional office, just kept wanting me to pay for extra tests, even charges $25 to collect your specimen. Then over a year later I receive a bill (never received before), saying I will be taken to collection if I don't pay. Will NOT go back.

Dr. Swerdloff helped me with a physical and found several issues that other doctors had not found. She is a good listener and although she can be disorganized, she is very genuinely interested in helping people to get well and is a very good diagnostician. I will continue to use her and am grateful that I found her.

This doctor is a total rip off and does nothing for your except saddle you with incredible bills after the fact. I saw her for 1 hour...I wanted to pay at time of service and she said "oh don't worry about it...it's is covered." Almost 2 years later I received a letter from a "collection agency" demanding $750+ for a "bad debt". I had never received a bill to pay. Long story short, she reported this "bad debt" to TRW etc., damaging my perfect credit. I ended up having to settle the debt for $400 to collection agency. No lab tests, 1 hour consultation - $400???? Rip Off with a capital R.

I originally went there for chelation therapy. Quacko switched me onto multiple tests for prostate and leaky gut instead. I never asked for it, but she insisted it was the right thing to do. She prescribed me a list of meds that nearly filled an entire page! This is Quacko's routine because she deals with labs that use provoking agents, however the reference ranges are based on non-provoked tests. This is how she prescribes you meds up the ying-yang, thus she rips you off and covers herself too. 2 weeks later, my stomach got very ill from so many meds. My Gi doctor pulled me off of all her meds. On the next appointment, Quacko gave me an ultimatum. She said," We have a difference in opinions. Either choose me or choose your Gi doctor". In a scolding manner she also said," You're taking another poop test!" Quacko made it sound like this was my punishment! I never went back there. A few weeks later, Quacko's assistant called me, virtually every day for a follow up appointment, for… about 3 weeks straight. I never returned any of her calls. FYi, Quacko always wears the same attire... her beat-up smelly black jeans. Yuck! Seems like it's the only attire she owns! One time, we were in the middle of a conversation, and Quacko abruptly dosed off. When she caught herself, she woke up embarrassed and then to wake her up she immediately started eating an apple in front of me! She blamed it on her 500 calorie a day diet! Seems like the census opinion says she's scatter brained, a notorious double appointment booker and a filthy office w/no privacy. It's all too true. There is no privacy because Quacko's exam room has a curtain (no door) and the dry wall is only 7 feet high. It doesn't even reach the ceiling. I could climb over it. This is why any conversation reverberates word for word, throughout the dumpy office. I encourage bloggers to report this to HiPAA. This was the worst medical experience of my life!

She will tell you that they problem is your thyroid and will prescribe you medication and then sell you thousands of dollars of vitamins and supplements and make you take all sorts of tests that are not covered by insurance and ...she is very well meaning and does not rush you ... would be the prefect doctor if she were not cukoo...

Initially I came to see Dr. Swerdloff about 7 years ago because I was interested in breast thermography as an alternative to mammography. Dr. Swerdloff became my general physician and has been an incredible source of help and information. I was going through a very stressful time and not aware there are ways to balance the body to reduce the impact and effect of stress. Her treatment restored my well being and balance. I was able to be calm and productive even under much pressure. I do not know what I would have done without her; I am very grateful!She is an "integrative" doctor, integrating the best that conventional and natural medicine have to offer, yet remaining conservative and scientific in her approach.I have had chronic sinusitis and Epstein Barr - diagnosed before I met Dr. Swerdloff. No one previously was able to mitigate the symptoms in the long term. I now very rarely have flair ups of either.Dr. Swerdloff has patiently been there for me as I have tried to reclaim my… health. She is a good listener and an excellent and insightful diagnostician. She is also very enthusiastic, compassionate and easy to talk to.She always makes me feel cared for; she always makes sure she very thoroughly addresses and takes all concerns into account.I am very happy to have her to ask for help when I need to.
