Dr. Laurence Russell Sands, MD

Excellent and expert care - I had my second colonoscopy after seeing him for a few years. My prior provider felt like a patient mill. Not so at all with U of M.l and Dr. Sands. Dr. Sands is very though and state of the art. Even though coming to Miami is not the most convenient for me, I feel the level of care is better. I have a family history of colon disease and want to be extra cautions. Highly recommend Dr. Sand Sands and all of his compassionate team!

We were extremely lucky and fortunate to have found Dr. Laurence Sands through my sister's friend, whose sister works for the University of Miami. We wanted the absolute best for our mother and Dr. Sands is that…. The absolute best as he is highly regarded by other doctors. During the initial consult, I knew my mom would receive the best possible care. Dr. Sands spent time with us and explained everything in great detail. He is compassionate, kind, caring and a wonderful surgeon. Dr. Sands performed a rather delicate surgery on our mother and literally saved her life. While in the hospital Dr. Sands and the team he assembled for my mom's care saw her every day. Dr. Sands obviously wanted the best for our mom. My mom even referred to Dr. Sands and his team as "The Dream Team". When we had a follow up visit a month after my mom's surgery Dr. Sands could not believe how great my mother looked. He was so pleased that he wanted to take a picture with her. We still do follow up visits with… Dr. Sands every few months. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Sands. My mom wants to give him 100 stars

I had a colonoscopy with another Doctor who found a big polyp, but did not remove it. Instead, referred me to a surgeon to remove a section of the colon that had the big polyp. I had lots of concerns with this surgery and managed to obtain an appointment with Dr. Sands. He was confident he could remove it with a Colonoscopy and avoid surgery. Within 3 days he scheduled a contrast CT Scan and performed the colonoscopy and removed the big polyp. Dr. Sands and the entire UM team is excellent and I highly recommend. Dr. Sands is very pleasant, takes time to listen, a true Gentleman and I owe him all my gratitude. He gave me the best Christmas present. Thanks so much Dr. Sands. God Bless You always.

Professional! I have no words to express my gratitude to this dr and his staff... Going thru cancer was a hard path... Dr Sands made it a lot easier, takes time explaining, best doctor I have had!

Dr. Sands performed a laparoscopic colon resection to remove a malignant mass which required no further treatment. He said that I was lucky!! I was lucky to chose the best Surgeon in the world! This man is Awesome as a Doctor, and a true Human Being. A MENSCH. I recently had a follow up colonoscopy which he found Nothing abnormal! It has been a year and a half and I think about him and give thanks to him Every Day!

This review is long over-due. God used Dr Sands to give us 7 additional beautiful years with my dad. He had advanced colon cancer by the time we found Dr. Sands. My only regret is not having found him sooner. He is not only the most capable surgeon, his bedside manner is absolutely unparalleled - he has a heart of gold! It's been 13 years since my dad passed away, yet Dr Sands still keeps in touch with my family. He does all of our colonoscopies and as long as he's in Miami, he will always be our doctor (in fact, we would consider moving just to follow him!). PS, If the wait is long, its because he takes his time with each patient and that is totally worth waiting for!!

Dr Sands is an extraordinary doctor. His handling of my colon cancer was nothing less than magical. I had dual procedures, Dr. Sands and Dr. Schuman did 6 hrs of surgery all done laparoscopic. These two doctors are absolutely the greatest. Highly skilled, caring and professional beyond belief. I would highly recommend Dr. Sands without any reservations.

Dr. Sands is a great surgeon. He is very knowledgably about IBD. I had a wonderful experience with him and recieved great care. He is truthful and honest. He will not sugar coat what you will experience during or after surgery. Dont try and rush him into giving you the next surgery because unless you are ready he wont give in.
