Dr. Laurence E. Torpey, MD

While Dr. Torpy is thorough, his "bedside manners" leave something to be desired. He has outbursts of extreme hostility and can be disrespectful. I don't especially like the home environment and the Doctor and staff wear street clothes. You ou donr know whose working and whose visiting, an unprofessional feeling. Windows show the street and parking lot, a lack of privacy even if no one is looking in.

First you come in, to there waiting room that looks like it was put together by a 5 year old with toys and punching bag with insurance written on it. Then you go to the window only to see a filthy kitchen with dishes pilled up in the sink, piles of papers on all the counters. A weight station located in the bath room in front of a toilet, no health brochures in the office, i went to room 2 which was clean but as your going down hall way, there is an office in the makeshift lab that had bags of chips, coffee cups, and on the other side of the counter urine. Second time i was seen in there 3rd room what im assuming is his desk they leave you in there while there is other patients paperwork left on desk, there is toys all over the place, urine cups on the other desk with what looked like bathbeads in them with water, which i was told he experiments with. Some staff were polite, but the place was dirty and i would not suggest making this office your pcp.

If you are looking for a doctor who operates out of a house, that still seems like a house - you've found him. Waiting room (living room) is an odd selection of chairs with a kitchen table in the middle. The bathroom is right off the waiting room and doubles as the height/weight station - yes, that's right! You stand a couple of feet from the toilet and get weighed, etc. The receptionist works "in the kitchen." Literally. A full kitchen from days gone by, and quite messy. The actual examination room was nicely laid out and very clean. I never saw anything that made me think that the place was dirty. All in all, I actually am very turned off because of the atmosphere. I personally don't appreciate an unprofessional atmosphere when it comes to something as important as my health. It's hard to even rate the doctor when he works in a place like that.

Dr.Torpey and staff have established a practice that is professional and medically up to date, while creating the feel of the an older style family practice, which is warm and welcoming. No sterile hospital type atmosphere, and you're definitely not just a number. Dr. Torpey is attentive, he takes the time to listen and discusses your concerns with you and never talks at you. I'm very pleased with the care I receive here.

Wonderful Doctor. Wants to know you as a person.
