Dr. Laurie Sy Tyau, MD

My daughter, 16 years old, visited Dr. Tyau on 2 occasions, a yearly checkup, and again for a follow up, and had terrible experiences every time. Dr. Tyau was very stand offish, very vague, and did not appear to be interested in making my daughter comfortable. She always stood quite far away. In turn, I ended up asking the questions of concern, verses it being a 2 way conversation between Doctor and patient. I did not feel that she was the least bit knowledgeable in caring for teens. Not once did she do any examinations. Our visits were a complete waste of time. In turn, we are planning to leave practice. Any other physician has to be better. I do not recommend this doctor or practice for teenage girls! Very disappointed!

Dr. Thyau is simply a remarkable physician. I truly appreciate how great of a listener she is. She was very attentive to my concerns and immediately was able to diagnose the need for a hysterectomy. Doctor Thyau even went further to ensure I clearly understood the steps involved in the procedure and patiently answered all of my questions. Furthermore, she was comforting and provided moral support before, during and post surgery. She is simply an amazing doctor and I will make sure to refer her to all of my friends, family members and even clients.

Dr. Tyau is extremely competent and has exceptional bedside manners. She ordered all the right tests for a thorough evaluation before she made her diagnosis. Even though I was a new patient, she made me felt at ease by answering all my questions. In addition, she followed up with me via email through the portal to make an appointment to discuss my lab results and options for treatment. Overall, great doctor/great staff/fully equipped facility. I highly recommend her if you are seeking quality top notch ob-gyn care in Silver Spring.

I have recommended Dr. Tyau over the years to friends who have asked for suggestions. In my opinion, Dr. Tyau has provided me with the most competent care possible. Because of her, I am healthy when I believe there might have been a different result. With constant testing, and with her guidance, I chose to have a surgical procedure. Remarkably, I felt amazing on the second day after surgery. I had to keep reminding myself that I needed to rest and take it easy because I felt so fine. I credit Dr. Tyau and the rest of the surgical team with my miraculous recovery. Dr. Tyau is a gem!

I am so happy with Dr Tyau , she has provided me with absolute excellent care! I am extremely pleased with the surgery and the after care. I definitely would recommend her.

I had seen Dr. Tyau for over 10 years, before my recent fertility issues. I had a mc at eight weeks at 39years old. At the time, I was desperately trying to get pregnant and I asked her could there be any reason for miscarriages ? She was very dismissive didn't want to listen to any of my of questions, she referred me to their website to read about it and she rushed out of the room. One month later I went to an ER with sever pain on my pelvic where they found I had fibroids. I made an appointment with her and told her my situation since she knows that I'm trying to get pregnant, I thought she would give me advice of how to deal with it, she was very cold and rude towards me again, didn't feel like to be in that room. Needles to say my ultrasound at her office right after my miscarriage either didn't show the fibroids or it was never reviewed by her. I've changed my OBGYN and I would not recommend her to anyone unless you're healthy and don't need her help. Be aware!!!

Dr Tyau has a terrific bedside manner and is always compassionate, patient and professional in her demeanor towards me. She is also extremely efficient without making me feel rushed. I was very worried today about what turned out to be erroneous information given to me by my internal medicine office regarding some vaginal swab test I had there and Dr Tyau greatly alleviated my anxiety by explaining to me why in my case this test result was NOT abnormal ; she spared me from a needless course of aggressive treatment for a totally non-pathogical condition!!

Been seeing dr Tyau for years and have the best ob/gyn ever!! Highly recommend her to anyone
