Dr. Lauro Amezcua-Patino, MD

I was a patient of Dr Patino in an Adolescent hospital in 2004 at banner. I was diagnosed and medicated for bi polar disorder without any type of evaluation first. One of the staff members later admitted that he diagnosed every child with Bi polar disorder. He was incredibly cold, arrogant , and rude. The fact that he still has a medical license shows how corrupt the healthcare and court systems are. The main is off the rails insane. What filthy hospital would hire this monster.

Refused a patient because of her disability

Overall very good at taking time to discuss my past history and understood that I am suffering with a real condition that needs addressing.

I went to Dr. Patino to get a second opinion for my 13 year old daughter who had suffered with ADHD her entire life. I was unable to ever get a clear diagnosis for her or the correct medication. Dr. Patino did not push medications on my daughter and was very open to hearing what our beliefs were on treatment. However, he also was very firm with us as a family in admitting that we all needed to come together to make sure she got help. I was very impressed with him and his assistant Lauren. They were great to work with and they worked together smoothly. The testing they did at the office helped our daughter tremendously. We cannot say enough about him and Lauren PA. The staff, at times, were difficult to get on the phone, as it appears they are short staffed a lot of the time. However, overall we were satisfied with the experience.

Dr. Patino took time to review all my concerns and discuss potential outcomes for each treatment scenario. He was very helpful in explaining things to me in terms that I could understand. Since I saw him first last year my life has been a complete 180 and couldn't be happier

I first saw Dr. Patino after several months of waiting for an initial appointment. I went with one of my parents. Dr. Patino brought up the subject of drug and alcohol use in front of my mother when I had explicitly stated not to release this information to others. Deciding to give Dr. Patino a second chance, I tried to schedule an appointment without my mother, because maybe the discomfort was because of my mother's presence. Dr. Patino kept pushing expensive "testing" without giving an real detail. This testing is not covered by my insurance and is very, very expensive. I had an awful time scheduling an appointment. I called two times and never had my call returned, even after leaving a message. Per their policy, they should have called within 24 hours. They did not. I even went in person. Even then, I still did not receive a call. When I finally got another appointment, I was reminded of Dr. Patino lack of tack. He is arrogant. When I brought up my concerns about… scheduling, he did not even acknowledge it. He was fixated on the way I had phrased the problem --"No one would talk to me." He went on a rant on how he only prescribes medicine, etc. When, I tried to interject and clarify, he held up his hand in a stop sign manner. When I went on to say I wanted to talk to him without my mother, I used the phrasing "be more honest." He again tried to twist my words. I tried to clarify that I was hoping it would be more comfortable and that my word choice was arbitrary, not meaning that I was dishonest before. He kept insisting that I must have being lying before, otherwise I would not have used the word honest. After having enough, I stated I would not like to continue treatment because I did not feel comfortable with him. After that, he snickered and said your unwillingness to talk shows this or that. He always seems to decree diagnosis without letting the patient to clarify points. It seems like diagnosing allows him an ego trip of control and superiority. The mug on his desk explains it best: "I'm a pyschiatrist so let's just assume I'm right."

They don't listen to the people about what meds are or are not working.
