Dr. Alan Lawrence Attia, MD

I have seen Dr. Attia (the younger) over the last 15 years and I trust him. His office does have some strange payment methods, no credit cards, but otherwise they are fine. They are conveniently located. I have had 3 colonoscopies over the years since I had a follow-up one after a polyp removal and he noted a heart issue and insisted I see a cardiologist. He assessed the problem correctly. I'm not fond of the Sinai system but for the routine procedures he uses a facility. He has advised me wisely on other stomach issues.

Im sure he is a great doctor based on his reviews but unfortunately his receptionist is not so great. I called to make an appointment and she says, "sorry we don't do walk ins." Exactly why I'm trying to make an appointment. Not the type of person you want to speak to when you're not feeling well.

I went to see Dr.Attia as an established patient. I was told that I had an outstanding balance and that I needed to pay it before the Dr. Attia would see me. I handed over my credit card and was told that they only accept cash or credit cards neither of which I had on me. The Dr then told me to Venmo the money or he would not see me. So much for taking the Hippocrates Oath. Needless to say I walked out of the office and will see another GI. Absolutely horrible treatment.

Dr. Attia is kind, thorough, and compassionate. He is the best doctor I have ever had. His bedside manner and his capacity to care get an A++. He is a doctor who takes the time to listen, explain, discuss, and take swift action at the same time. i can't recommend him enough.

Dr. Attia has helped me through many problems through the years. I value his ability to listen and understand and then to give advice. He is up to date in the medical world and I trust his judgment.

Excellent staff. Dr. Attia gets back to you very quickly.

Dr. Attia is compassionate, intellegent and actively invloved in all aspects of patient care.He listens!

I've had my appendix out, broken a toe, faced the ER for food poisoning all within a few years. Each time, Dr Attia provided excellent oversigh ...

During a routine colonoscopy the anesthesia had no affect (although I had told Dr. Attia of my use of benzodiazapams for an anxiety disorder). As the examination became unbearably painful I screamed for him to stop and he continued and the attending nurse actually held me down on the stretcher/bed and told me it would soon be over. As I had never heard of this procedure being performed without anesthesia (or at least being forewarned of the possibility of this occurring) I was completely confused and very emotionally scarred by the whole incident. I had asked him to stop because of the pain he was causing and he did not because I was his last patient of the day the last thing he wanted was any complications. He was brutal and I felt summarily dismissed by his attitude. Never Again!
