Dr. Lawrence Harvey Bernstein

I have been seeing this Dr for 8 years. In the beginning he was good but as time went by he got worse and worse. He does not believe in side effects for any medications and if you do have any then they are in your head. Trying to get a refill on any medications are a joke. If you have to take anything that requires you not to miss a dose you will be out of lick. The nurses and office staff are some of the worse I have ever met. Very Very LAZY. They do not care at all. If you go to this office think long and hard if you want these problems because it seems to be a theme there judging by the amount of people who come in to complain on a daily basis. I called in a prescription that i had been on for over 3 years (yes a painkiller) Upon picking up the rx, i noticed it was a 15d supply not a 30d supply. I call the office to rectify this and they tried to tell me it was a mistake and that i never should have gotten the refill in the 1st place. So they wanted me to just stop taking a narcotic painkiller coldturkey while i am still in agony, and have yet to see my surgeon. He never returns phonecalls unless your a new patient of less than 6 months, after that he ignores all calls and usually so do his assitants.

I would not recommend this Dr or Office to anyone. I have been a patient for a good 6 or so years and it seems my opinion of this office and doctor get worse and worse as the years go on. In a Emergency you should trust that you would be able to get a hold of your doctor or his medical assistants for advice. And that they would do anything they could to help you. Recently I was ran over by a car and have lots of medical issues all of a sudden because of it. It has been a struggle to just talk to my Dr's Office never mind getting a appointment to see him. Its been about 6 days since I called them. I received a call 3 days after I contacted them, I was not home but they left a message saying I can call back if I still need to talk to them. Well Of course I still needed to so I called up, again got a answering service. I left my message again. Nobody contacted me so I called the next day to let them know I really need to speak to a Dr or Medical assistant, and told them I had a… appointment to get my cast off that day and gave them the time so they knew when I would be home to contact me. Nobody has called me that day. Today is the day after I got the cast off and still nobody has contacted me. My recent experience with this office (since I was hit by a car) has been terrible. From day one I had issues that would have been easily prevented if people actually did there jobs. For Example, Upon making a appointment to see Dr Bernstein Nobody told me I needed to bring any claim information because it was a auto accident, me being the pedestrian. So when I showed up I was not seen. Yes they denied to see me. Its not like I get ran over every day and know I need these things. I am also not a mind reader. Also they should have known since the accident happened on a friday, I would not be able to get any information by Monday. I never even knew I was getting any claim information, this is a first for me. So I was denied to see the Dr on my first visit. Remember I was just hit by a car and it was not easy to get to the appointment. It was very painful. After they told me what they needed, and made another appointment I got the information requested. When I came to the appointment I was denied to see him again. They said I needed more information, even though I came with everything THEY requested. Again they were going to send me home without seeing the Dr. But after making a big deal about it a supervisor came out, I spoke to her, and she easily able to get the other information required. So they were going to send me home again, when they could easily get the information right there in the office. That really made me upset. Because I am sure its much easier for them to do it then it would be for me to have to go back home, with no pain meds or treatment for a second time, and try to get that information myself. I already went 3 days with no pain meds one of witch could have been easily prevented if only I was told everything to bring when I made my first appointment. The hospital only gave me enough meds for the weekend. But it does not end there. After taking the pain meds my doctor prescribed, Tramadol I contacted my Dr to let him know they were not working at all for the pain. Nobody ever contacted me, I never got anything else for the pain. I had to wait/suffer over a week before I was able to see a Orthopedic. When I seen him they did more Xrays because the hospitals showed it was broken. He explained it was fractured and I have severe tissue damage. He asked what I was given for pain meds and when I told him he said oh boy you must be in some pain. And said I am going to give you something adequate for your pain. He explained Tramadol is a synthetic opiate and is at the bottom of the pain meds. So finally about 2 weeks after getting hit and ran over by a car I got some pain meds and of course a full leg cast. It was a terrible 2 weeks. I actually just got my hard cast off yesterday and a new Air Boot type cast on for the next 3 weeks. I was also given a refill on my pain meds to last 20 days. So I am good until my next appointment with the Orthopedic in 3 weeks. By then I should not need any more pain meds. I really hope either Dr Bernstein or someone from his office reads this. I want them to know how much one of there patients suffered because of them. I will be finding a new Dr when this is all over. I would NEVER want anyone to go through what I did, so I would URGE you to stay away from this Dr Office.
