Dr. Lawrence N Diebel, MD

Because of complications due to diabetes and a lack of self care, I recently had to have my leg amputated above the knee. I was lucky that Dr. Diebel performed my life saving surgery. By letting it heal naturally and following my case closely, he was able to save as much of my leg as possible. Dr. Diebel is a brilliant man who shoots straight from the hip, but behind that steely exterior he is also very kind. Have your questions ready when he enters the examining room, because he is also very efficient. I have no doubt: I could not have asked for a better, more experienced trauma surgeon.

Dr. Diebel, along with his residents, is arrogant beyond belief. Patients are mocked with snide comments and judged without even a simple examination. He also does not consult with other specialties, leaving patients at high risk for post-surgical complications, which could be dire. I have had two interactions with the surgical group at Detroit Receiving Hospital, and will refuse to be assigned to their care if situations should arise in the future.

He has done several surgeries on me and I have no complaints. He is very straight forward and direct, which may not sit well with someone who wants to be coddled by their doctor, but he knows what he is doing and gets it done, which to me is far more important than someone holding my hand.
