Dr. Lawrence D Eisenhauer, MD

This man should have lost his license after what he did to me!!! I waited way too long to report this horrible injury he inflicted upon me that is a lifelong disability. In 2005 I agreed to a hysterectomy which probably could have been avoided with other possible treatments. After agreeing to the hysterectomy (not being offered any other treatments such as embolism) I underwent the hysterectomy . Upon waking from anesthesia I discovered both of my hands were numb. I told Dr Eisenhower & he responded, ‘both hands?’ This went on for my entire 3 day stay in the hospital! Finally when I went for my post op appointment, I told him my hands were still numb! He said, ‘both??’ After learning I needed nerve surgery (bi lateral ulnar nerve transposition) on both arms I seeked legal help. I found out Dr Eisenhower neglected to chart for THREE days that both of my hands were numb!!! Because of his not being honest & reporting my injury to my hands, I was unable to hold him accountable for his… negligence!! I waited way to long to report this man. He’s probably close to retirement now! What a shameful man.! After my surgeries my hands still have numbness! Shame on him!!!

He delivered my twins in the late 90s. Knrw my firstnorn was smaller and urged me to have a vaginal birth when the right choice was cleatly a csection. He was rushed that evening because of his office Christmas party and my first norn suffered traumatic brain injury becausr of 15 minutes oxygen deprivation to the brain. My son is completely disabled because of tbe carelessness of Dr. Eisenhauer. Never ever compromise a delivery involving multiples!

They tell you the first treatment is $500. However, if the treatment is so painful that you don't do the second one, they make you pay $1000 for the first treatment.

Been a patient for over 15 years. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We are first time parents, and booked our first appintment with Dr. Eisenhauer. I am shocked at his high online reviews. My husband and I were both extremely uncomfortable with our experience here. I did not realize when booking the appointment that he is not actually a Scripps doctor, but a private practice operating out of a Scripps building. The office was dingy and cluttered. There were old posters haphazardly pinned to the walls, and large holes in the walls! The forms I filled out were bad xerox copies, with typos. His office had piles of papers and random junk everywhere. -- just based on this alone, I have a bad impression of his attention to detail, organization and cleanliness. But it gets worse. Before we do the exam, he explains to us, with a HAND PUPPET, what we are about to see on the ultra sound. Basically, either a beating heart, or a not- meaning our baby isnt alive. This was by far the most traumatic for my husband. Moving on- We get into the tiny… exam room, and he can't find the correct tool he needs (the one that is going INSIDE me). Wearing his latex exam gloves, he searches around, opening drawers, touching door knobs, and going out into the hall, looking in those drawers, as well. All while commenting that he doesn't want to have to "use the XLarge took on me! Haha!" (I now regret not getting up and walking out.). He does a somewhat unprofessional exam, commenting on my wide set hips, while his hands are inside if me, prints us out a poor US photo with printer lines through it, and sends us on our way. There was no blood pressure taken, urine sample, blood draws, ect. We are now down at La Jolla, with a Scripps doctor and it is like night and day. I am so thankful to never be going back to Dr. Eisenhauer. As a final confirmation of my decision to run for the hills, when I called to cancel all future appointments, it took me several days to even get through. No one answers, sometimes the call just drops. I ended up leaving a message with some main operator, and hoped the message got to him. (What if I was his patient and there was something important happening? Or I was going into labor? Clearly, he is NOT on top of it.)

Had surgery in 1997 and I am still in pain. He was suppose to operate on my abscessed gland and when I woke up from surgery he removed both. I had to call an ambulance and go to the ER that evening after calling the office several times reporting high temperatures and extreme pain. I told him I was going to the ER after my temp was 105 degrees. My temperature fluctuated from 94 - 104 for years. I did not authorize the surgery on both sides of my vaginal opening. He later said he was doing me a favor. I had two children in diapers at the time and had to army crawl around my home to care for them. I still have a 2 inch hole inside my vaginal wall. At the time there were other women that had botched up surgeries by Dr. Eisenhower and other reports of his arrogant demeanor. Other Doctors confirmed his botched up surgery, but said they would not go up against another Doctor and testify to that. It was explained to me something like the code police officers use to back each… other up. It's been 14 years and I still find it difficult to sit for any length of time and can not wear pants without being in extreme pain. Doctors tell me any surgery I have to fix the problem may make it worse resulting in more scar tissue. I am surprised he is still allowed to practice medicine.

Dr. Eisenhauer was able to diagnose a problem that had eluded other doctors so my trip to Encinitas from Escondido was well worth it.

I have had several difficult pregnancy issues and have been through them with Dr. E. He always proved himself and may be the only reason I have my beautiful baby girl. I had a suspected ectopic pregnancy that ruptured on father's day/Sunday. Within 15 minutes of calling the dr, I was in the office and 10 minutes later in surgery with Dr. E for a ruptured ectopic/internal bleeding. My tube and everything was saved and I was given a good prognosis. It was a terrible time and he was very supportive. During my next pregnancy, he had some concerns and wanted an extra opinion. He referred me to the best specialist at Children's Hospital. It turned out to be a very high risk pregnancy and he supported me throughout the constant monitoring I needed. I don't feel that every doctor would have caught what he did and if it had not been caught, my baby probably would not have made it. He tailored the treatment plan to my personality, making the best out of a difficult situation. His staff all were… very supportive along the way. I would highly recommend him!

I have three kids all were delivered by different doctors. I love Dr. Eisenhaur and highly recomend him. He is kind and sensitive. He has a great personality and is super funny which can lighten the mood during some hairy moments. I have never had any problems with him and have been his patient for 8 years now. I wish there were more doctors like him.

Dr. Eisenhauer is an extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable ob. My husband and I unfortunately had a baby boy stillborn at 28 weeks, and Dr. Eisenhauer was there every step of the way with compassion, kindness, and information. We could not have chosen a better doctor to go through that journey with and will absolutely be going back to him for the next baby. He and his staff are the absolute best and we would confidently recommend them to anyone who wants a obgyn who is the best!
