Dr. Lawrence William Elmer, MD

After three attempts to get the referral to them...then they say that they need office notes....SERIOUSLY??? Why would you not tell me that when I called the first time.LESS THAN HELPFUL!

Dr Elmer gave us 15 months we woulddn't have had without his help. He even helped with procuring my husbands brain as to maybe help someone else. He even cared about me. Great Dr spread too thin by the powers that be. I tell everyone I know what a great Dr he is. Only regret we didn't find him 18 years ago. maybe my husband would have had a better chance. Don't settle for 2nd best when Dr Elmer is the best. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My father had been diagnosed and seeing Dr. Elmer for Parkinson's Disease for a few years. In the beginning he saw Dr Elmer and about the time my father stopped responding to the PD medication he was prescribing, Dr Elmer handed him off to Mary Scott, NP. Dr. Elmer seems to only want to treat patients that are experiencing progression with his treatment. My father is on 4 PD medications and Dr Elmer prescribed 2 antidepressants and tramadol (he was already on an anxiety medication, insulin for diabetes, and several other medication to combat the side effects of the PD medications). But he prescribed 2 antidepressants and tramadol that should not be taken together and run a high risk of causing Serotonin Syndrome. Luckily my father stopped taking the tramadol because when he did he felt worse. But the practice said the medications were safe to take together. My father started seeing a psychiatrist who immediately took him off one of the antidepressants because of the possible… interaction between the two. I feel as if the practice is just giving him one medication after the other and not taking into consideration that some of the meds may not work for him and the side effects stay with him and don't go away. Since seeing Dr. Elmer my father has just gotten worse after starting all the medications in a very short period of time. They also had my father do a 2 night stay at Toledo's Hospital to do a PD med check to find out why his symptoms continue to worsen. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE! The hospital nurses were terrible. They didn't give him his PD medications on time or even record what he was experiencing before or after medication. My father has very bad postural sway when standing and falls very easily. The nurses wouldn't even come help him get out of bed at night to use the bathroom after calling them for help 3 times during the night. So you can imagine where this is leading-- he soiled the bed more than once because they never came to help-NOT ONCE. Dr Elmer did come to the hospital 2 times and determined he needed to increase my father's PD medications, per nurses notes, by adding a pill each day. I am currently trying to get my father to see another specialist in Cleveland or Columbus for a second opinion and maybe somewhat a start over on his medication.

I was dx with Parkinson's in 2012. Dr. Elmer is kind and caring

Dr. Elmer is a tremendously skilled, caring physician. If all members of the medical community had the care and concern for each of their patients what a grand world this would be.
