Dr. Lawrence Mauro was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. Originally from Donora, PA, Dr. Mauro attended Washington and Jefferson College where he earned his B.A. in Biology in 1999. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, earning his D.M.D in 2003. Following Dental School, Dr. Mauro completed an optional General Practice Residency at the VA Pittsburgh Health Care, where he was mentored by some of the brightest and most talented General Dentists and Dental Specialists in the Pittsburgh area.
Dr. Mauro’s dental education did not end following his residency. He is a lifelong student of dentistry and a firm believer in Continuing Dental Education. He completes 80 to 100 hours of Continuing Dental Education annually, which is roughly four to five times the amount required to maintain licensure by the state of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mauro has been awarded the prestigious "Fellowship Award" with the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor less than 1% of …dentists nationwide achieve.
While completing his residency, Dr. Mauro (Larry) married his beautiful and brilliant wife, Melissa. They were married in 2003 and have been blessed with four amazing daughters. After practicing and living in Vermont, Larry and Melissa decided it was best to move back home to Pittsburgh. They are very excited to raise their daughters in the North Hills with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby in the Pittsburgh area.
Dr. Mauro’s goal at North Hills Family Dental is to provide his patients with optimal oral health care in a pleasurable and comforting environment.
