Dr. Lawrence Lee Simpson, MD

This doctor did so many things wrong that it's to much to tell in this review. This was my second visit to this facility and the first time went horribly. Live and learn right! The only reason I went to Clark Memorial Hospital Urgent Care - Sellersburg was because my Internist isn't in on Wednesday's. I was there for a severe throat pain with other cold like symptoms. This sore throat was bad enough that my husband said we've got to go to a Doctor and get you something for the pain. I was having trouble swallowing. That being said onto this Doctor. (I use that term loosely) No bedside manner. When I asked for pain meds he looked at me very suspiciouly and said "what kind of pain meds were you looking for"? Like i'm a junkie. Tried to get me to get an Xray of my throat that I didn't need. He said that this was because of the sever pain I was in. (whatever) An Xray for sever pain in my throat. Huh, that pretty much let me know that he was doing this because he wasn't… trusting me about my need for pain meds. I asked my husband to come in, as to have a witness to this guy. Really it was to back me up that I wasn't a junkie. He came in one last time and said "so you don't want the X ray. I said no that I didn't need it. He sat down and asked me which pain meds upset my stomach. Anything with codeine or codeine based. I said hydrocodone for example. He said that there is no codeine in hydrocodone. In the next breath was hydrocodone is based on a synthetic codeine. What's the difference, it upsets my stomach. I knew that there had to be something for pain besides anything with done at the end of it. He goes onto say that " well if you can't take narcotic's ( I never said I couldn't take narcotics) I'm not really sure what I can do. I'm not going to try to give a Doctor suggestions for pain medicine when he clearly did not want to me have any, especially when he was totally against giving anything that he considered a controlled substance. I said that I would just go to my Internist to get some pain meds the next day. He said fine. Needless to say I walked out of there in pain and crying knowing I would have to spend another day in severe pain and have to pay for an unnecessary office visit to get something that he could have prescribed. He did prescribe Amoxicillin. Avoid this guy if you don't want to walk out of this facility feeling worse that when you walked in.

Dr Simpson not only treated me he followed up to check with me and when I was not better ordered more tests till he figured it out. Found my back pain was in fact a herniated disk. Then got me into a spine surgeon within 72 hours!
