(2011-2021) Ten years later and son is still doing well, even after rigors of marime corp training life. The surgery was also fast, because he knows what he is doing. Yes he was assholish in the preop visit but I need to like a doctors personality. My son was misdiagnosed by a optician which almost cost him his depth perception. We were living overseas and the doctor who finally made the right call said he could do the corrective surgery, but he would like us to find somebody who had more experience. This doctor asked us if we were going to the US soon and when we told him we were he went to his computer and found 5 doctors he would recommend. One of them was Dr. Tychsen in St Louis. It was convenient as my wife has family in the area. I dont know the experience others who have commented on site had, but I found him to be very cordial and matter of fact. If your a person who needs their hand held, maybe not the guy for you. He performed or at least oversaw the surgery. It went great. And yeah, students probably do some of the work, that's how doctors learn.

He’ll use your precious little one as guinea pig to train his residents and fellows. There’ nothing you’d know or you could do behind the closed door of OR. My little child ended up with multiple surgeries to correct mistakes made by his residents.

Dr. Tychsen has the most atrocious bedside manner I have ever witnessed. He spoke to us while staring at a folder with his back to us. He was impatient with my child. He was impatient with us when we asked questions. He was condescending and rude. He did not offer any sort of explanation and seemed annoyed when we sought clarification. I truly think something is wrong with him and feel a bit bad for him, yet I'm also angry that his problem--whatever it is--is affecting my child's care. We are searching for a new doctor and would never recommend Tychsen to anyone for any reason. I wish I could give him zero stars. Also wait times in his office are insane. We spent four hours there one day, and more than three of those were in the waiting room.

My 10 year old has issues with behavior so we are in Brain Balance for that and we have eye exercises we are doing that we were worried may be causing the sudden blurriness he was having in his eyes. Dr. Tychsen spent an entire 3 minutes with us and told us (in front of our child) to quit Brain Balance, quit the exercises and take Parental Counseling. He is NOT capable of diagnosing Mental Illness. He should NOT have said those things in front of my son and he didn't take ANY amount of time to listen. It was the most disturbing appointment with a doctor that I have ever had. So...he recommends a counselor that we have been seeing for 2 years with NO results. Obviously he does not have a clue. Do NOT see him. His associates may be fine.

I went to Dr. Tychsen after a recommendation from my daughters physical therapist for an eye rolling tick when she was almost 2. After being in the office for over an hour, Dr. Tychsen looks at my daughter for just a min or two and was done. During that minute, he had a helper hold her down on her back and wouldn't even try to calm her down, he didn't talk to her at all. Had he just asked me to help get her on her back and been patient, she wouldn't have been screaming like that. I think he just wanted to get done as fast as possible so he could leave the room. I did not feel that the exam was thorough at all. It turned out that her eyes were not fine after getting a second opinion. So glad I saw someone else afterwards! After the exam I asked Dr. Tychsen about my other daughter and her eyes since she had been complaining about blurry vision. He tells me right in front of my 5 year old in a very frustrated and rude tone that she was making up the blurry vision to get attention.… Again Dr. Tychsen was wrong after getting a second opinion. She has a focusing problem with her eyes that was caught by a different eye dr. He was very rude and seemed very annoyed with my questions. I will not be returning to him or recommending him to anyone I know.

Dr. Tychsen performed a delicate surgeryon my son's eyes and it was miraculous.He was legally blind and now he doesn'teven wear glasses. It opened up his whole world of being able to see thingsthat he could never see before. He couldnot read before and now since he can seethe letters, his reading is improving.

Dr. Tychsen does not have a pleasant bedside manner. I don't get the sense that he's losing sleep over my daughter. That said, I trust his opinion and I trust his work. He has operated on my daughter twice and the work is really miraculous. And even though he may not be the most warm person, he is extremely professional and all of the other people in his office make my child's experience a pretty positive one. I have to travel over 100 miles to see him, but it's worth it.

Dr Tychsen, if I can call him as a doctor, he is a very cold and NO sensitive person. He is unable to look at your face when he is talking to you. He did not talk with my daughter who was his patient at that time. Every time I book an appointment with him, it came different doctors. He only got inside the room just for couples minuts.He was very impolite. I will never come back or recommend him even for my enimies.

Dr. Tychsen is a very professional, caring, and overall amazing physician. I would recommend him to anyone with a child that has eye problems. His technicians and staff were great as well.
