Dr. Layla Ziaee, MD

She helped me to find help for my son. She cares about her patients and will not let you get addicted to Medication.

She is very busy but always take time if you need extra time. She saved my life.

I can't really say much about the quality of this doctor. However, I work with a client who suffers from the effects of a traumatic brain injury who was referred to Dr. Ziaee and based on her experience I can say there is definitely an issue with the doctor's staff. My client's brain injury make's it difficult for her to understand the written word at times, especially when stressed. This is complicated by the fact that English is not her first language. When she arrive at the office, she was handed paperwork to complete. She tried to relate that she has difficulty with completing paperwork, but was cut off and told again to complete the forms. My client completed as much as she could then asked for help again. She was told in quite rude way that there was no one to help her and if she couldn't complete the paperwork, she couldn't see the doctor. There was no effort to accomodate her disability. Embarrassed and disappointed, my client left the office in tears. I thought… psychiatric treatment is supposed to be focused on compassionate care, but this receptionist was anything but compassionate. In fact, her behavior borders on discrimination against the disabled, and quite possibly based on race. I would expect better of an employee at physiatrist's office where staff frequently deal with patients in delicate mental and emotional states.

She is HORRIBLE. I do not recommend her. She does not care about her patients. She was recommended to me and after 8 years, without any warning she abandoned me at a time when I needed her the most. I know from experience that a good psychiatrist is there for their patients. She left me without one word spoken. Can you imagine being with your doctor for 8 years on medication and suddenly she vanishes without a trace and refuses to take your calls or respond to your letters. That in itself is mental abuse. I would recommend her to no one.....

If I could give zero stars, that would be more fitting. The soonest appointment I could schedule was seven weeks from the day I called. Not ideal for someone suffering depression. ONE HOUR before I have to leave for my appointment, I get a call saying Dr. Ziaee canceled my appointment and also the phone lines are going down (for lunch) immediately. I understand emergencies arise, but (a) that reason was not given, (b) a professional emergency would be unlikely, and (c) when a new patient is suffering from depression, the true emergency may be right in front of you. I will not be rescheduling with this horrible doctor. She shouldn’t be practicing medicine if this is how she regards patients.

Great doc. You need to show up to your appointments, if you miss a lot, they will Not see you. She is very busy so many people are waiting to see her. Very easy to talk to and has great bedside manner.

Dr. Staff is very unprofessional

She is very conservative with medications. Great bedside manner and easy to talk to.

I have long dreaded ever having met the woman. I've had several negative experiences with psychiatrists, but she has since been proved to be among the most insidious. The worst of it is that she, upon first appearance, seemed to be genuine. But when I was at my lowest point, she suddenly withdrew her so-called caring facade. When I wished to terminate my use of the prescription that she'd prescribed, she made every effort to convince me otherwise, and would not support my efforts to wean off of the drug. So, I did my research and learned that the process might include considerable withdrawal symptoms. To preempt that outcome, I toak measures to supplement the weaning process with other prescriptions known to have gentler but longet effects in the body. Long story short--it didn't work. Shortly after, I found myself no longer experiencing the issues for which the drug had been initially prescribed but found that I was experiencing the some burgeoning and disturbing new ones. I… went to her with my concerns, but her response was cold and dismissive. Her only suggestion was that I should return to the drug. Most striking was her stoic committal to keeping me on the drug--indefinitely. Well, that was the last time I saw her. I was done with her in the moment that I realized that she had an agenda and that it was not that of my wellbeing. The unfortunate result of it all is that the resultant antidepressant discontinuation syndrome has in the meantime managed to decimate every facet of my life. I now find it suspicious that I saw her (and took the drug) for 5 years but never once paid for my subscription. She replenished my supply during every visit. I was fooled into believing that this action was borne of genuine concern and compassion. But I've since come to understand more of the nature and operations of Big Pharma, it's reps and many of the drug pushers that we commonly call doctors. It's a big business, and many profits are made outside of the light of transparency. In short, I believe that I was some sort of guinea pig, snagged by the lure of free meds and fabricated concern. I made it perfectly clear to her that I approached life holistically and that I did not intend to be on any drug indefinitely. This simply was not her decision to make. She, in so many words, gave me an ultimatum--her way or the highway. I admit that I have no way of knowing what my destination would have been had I taken her prescribed path, but I do know that I would be further entrenched in the throes of the drug that did ultimately pillage my life. She should have listened to me. She should have helped me, even if she did not agree with my choice. She might have drastically minimized this shell of a life that I now lead. But she didn't. She chose to force my steps in the opposite direction. A good doctor doesn't try to control her patients but collaborates and tries to help them across circumstances. She didn't. And now (and for the last 6 years), I'm back at square one....and then some. By the way, my initial diagnosis: depression. And the drug was Cymbalta. I credit the drug with saving my life...and then stealing away every recognizable part of it. Just say no--unless you're committed to potentially using it every day for the remainder of your life with currently unknown side effects. It has an extremely short half-life--"brain zaps" within the first few hours of missing your daily dosage. Since "weaning" from the drug, I have debilitating social anxiety and panic attacks that affect EVERY aspect of my life. Use it at your own risk, but do not see this doctor.

Great doctor. Will not prescribe addictive medications so don't bother if you are looking for this.
