DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR!! I'm deeply disappointed with how i was treated by Dr. Kamalu abruptly refused to continue prescribing essential medication because I saw a licensed psychologist for a separate mental health issue. He claimed i was not allowed to see any other providers which was never communicated and is not medically or ethically appropriate. Patients deserve care not control.

Never felt welcome from start to finish. Won't be going back.

This clinic never answers the phone. It's extremely frustrating when you're attempting to schedule an appointment. The Dr. is pretty good but the front desk staff needs training.

I've been a patient of Dr. Kamalu off and on for 5 years. I am a 55 year woman on SSI due to many factors. I started seeing him for chronic pain pill dependency. After about 5 years I've come to respect this man over any Dr. I've ever seen. If your not Dr. Shopping and stick with one, you get to know them as they do you. Dr. Kamalu is a no nonsense Dr. With a great gift of knowing he's patients pretty well. No he's not going to throw you meds you don't need. And maybe instead of judging his outside by your inside you might find a very kind Dr. with an excellent bedside manner. I love his charisma you may call arrogance and joke around with him every visit. This Dr. May have saved my life several times and I look forward to many more visits with him and his fabulous staff. God Bless them all.

I have been seeing Dr. Kamalu for years now, He is a No Nonsense Dr. He tells you how it is. I have had good visits with him and some not so good..

Dr. Kamalu was my physician of choice for several years, and I had a good rapport with him. However, the care I required was minimal. When I had a serious illness, it seemed like he lost interest. While my family and I waited nervously for results of tests, he did not report them to me. Fortunately, I was able to quickly find another physician who has a real interest in getting me better.

I have been seeing Dr Kamalu for several years. I wasn't exactly satisfied with the service I received but for med refills I tolerated it. I have had several problems with his billing department and became frustrated with the billing person who was condescending. She stated "now we've been through this before" instead of reviewing my concerns she completely disregarded me. The lack of professionalism was not appreciated. I recently called to refill my psych meds for depression. I was then informed that I was "dropped from receiving services there". What I would like to know is how is that patient care? I was not abusive to staff. I was frustrated on the call with billing but to "drop" a ct without speaking to them first Dr. Kamalu? I'm shocked and disappointed. I will be filing a complaint with dopl.

Not a caring Doctor, extremely poor bedside manners and comes across as arrogant. I don't want to say he is a bad doctor but beside manners are so IMPORTANT. Went to him once and never wanted to return there.

I had a good experience with Dr. Kamalu. He is very responsive and kind. Always has answers.

I must say that I don't like his bedside manner. I have been so insulted at times that I envisioned myself slapping his face and walking out, but I don't think his lack of people skills makes him a bad doctor nor am I saying that is what the other rater above was implying. He certainly can come off as uncaring and even a bit condescending at times, but then I wouldn't want to have a doctor who did not possess the confidence in his own opinions to make decisions regarding my care. There was one time in which I was misdiagnosed by this doctor, but based on the information he had in front of him at the time which neither of us knew was incomplete, I think any other doctor would have diagnosed the same thing or might not have been able to come up with anything at all. I will probably never leave Dr. Kamalu for one important reason. He was brave enough to let me try a non-FDA approved (but perfectly safe) medicine to treat my Multiple Sclerosis. That medicine has made a huge positive… impact on my mobility and quality of life. There was not a single neurologist or family practitioner in the area who had the guts to try out this treatment. I thank God for Dr. Kamalu even though he rubs me the wrong way, and I have to think that maybe his confidence in his own opinions was what made him able to prescribe something new and different that other physicians didn't have the cohones to try. There is always a risk of a malpractice lawsuit for the doctor when the patient tries a treatment for a diesease that is not FDA-approved for that particular disease. He didn't worry about me suing him. He just let me give it a try. Within two days on this alternative treatment, my improvement was mind-blowingly beyond anything I could have ever hoped for. I am not cured, but I am much better than I was on Copaxone, an extremely expensive, toxic injection that is FDA approved to treat MS. Just so you know how bad Copaxone is, it has to be stored in glass syringes because it eats through plastic. Now, thanks only to Dr. Kamalu, I take a little pill once a day, and it doesn't cost the tax payers much at all. Although we might find it preferable, we don't have to enjoy someone's company in order to benefit from their influence on our lives. He may not be Florence Nightengale, but that doesn't mean he can't make good medical decisions and carry them out.
