Dr. Leah Slone A Casuto, MD

Dr. Casuto is a member of the adolescent treatment team, though she works with patients of all ages. A portion of her time is devoted to research. Her areas of specialty include bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety spectrum disorders like separation anxiety. With a specialization in adolescent depression, Dr. Casuto has taken the lead in Lindner Center of HOPE’s efforts to increase awareness around adolescent depression. Through her efforts, Lindner Center of HOPE launched the Johns Hopkins’ Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP) in Cincinnati. ADAP is a school-based program designed to educate high school students, faculty, and parents about adolescent depression.

For more than 16 years Dr. Casuto has practiced psychiatry. In addition to serving patients and families in treatment settings, she has also served as a researcher and teacher in the field. She has extensive experience in community mental health serving as a staff psychiatrist for a number of facilities in …Greater Cincinnati. She also has an interest in treating artists managing their mood symptoms without compromising their creativity or productivity. Prior to joining Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. Casuto focused on child, adolescent and adult therapy and psychopharmacology as an independent practitioner in a private practice.

As a researcher, Dr. Casuto has worked as co-investigator on studies examining the treatments of compulsive shopping, binge eating disorder, bipolar disorder, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. In addition, she served as co-investigator on a prospective study of children at high risk of bipolar disorder.

Dr. Casuto has co-authored several journal articles. She is affiliated with the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

She is a Research Assistant Professor, affiliated in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati and the Department of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
