Dr. Lee Andrew Cowen, DO

I started to see Dr. Cowan after going to Dr. Biggans (same practice) for many years. Other members of my family have gone to Dr. Cowan in the past so I thought nothing of switching over. After my first experience I will be switching doctors once again. He barely acknowledged me when he entered the room. Had very little to say to me during the visit except to dismiss my questions and concerns. He actually walked out of the room and shut the door in my face as I tried to ask him a question. I was there really just for a check up as I was about to leave for an extended trip and wanted to renew prescriptions and get something to help me for the flight as I am a nervous flyer. I asked several questioned about the medication that my previous Dr. had given me for flying and he basically dismissed my questions and asked me why I didn't know what I was prescribed even though it had been well over a year and a half since I had been given it. He also decided to change the… dosage of a preventative (non-narcotic) medication I have been taking for several years and refused to listen to why my previous Dr. had prescribed it that way. He refused to give me refills. He treated me as if I were some sort of addict. As this is preventative medicine it is important that I take it right away if an episode occurs. He told me to call for a refill. Well two months later I need a refill and he is gone and unable to write me a new script and has essentially ruined my holiday. I have never felt so un-cared for by a Dr. in my life. I realize he is quite busy but his bedside manner is atrocious. He essentially checked some boxed and pushed me out the door. And now his lack of understanding has caused me unnecessary pain and embarrassment that could have been prevented if he would have either been willing to listen or been available. I will not be going back to him except to get my records and to transfer to another doctor.
