Dr. Lee Kim Erickson, MD

A family member of mine was recently being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan and Dr. Erickson was one of the many doctors on the team caring for my relative. Their first encounter with her was very cold and all business. She was voicing her opinion that my relative should not be in the hospital and her concern for the hospitals lack of beds, basically implying my relative was taking up space which she felt should of been being used for other patients. I don't feel its the patients problem if the hospital is lacking rooms and or beds, and problems like that really should not be stressed on patients especially those who have just found out they have cancer for the third time in their life. The other doctors on the team treating my relative all agreed my relative should rightfully be in the care of the hospital. The second encounter, she continued going on about needing beds and took the dialogue for a turn by saying my relative should opt to leave the hospital, go to a… hospice and enjoy what time she had left with her family. No other doctor on the team ever mentioned that my relative was in a condition of dying, they are saying her cancer is treatable. MSK exudes this motto of positivity, no fear and stresses their kindness in caring for their patients. Dr. Erickson did not represent that face in any way. Instead of instilling hope into my relative, she instilled fear. I am appalled by her lack of bedside manner and moral compass. I hope that Dr. Erickson formally apologizes for her behavior and never makes any patient and their families feel the way she made us feel. Never in our time as a family dealing with MSK have we been treated this way and in no way would I say Dr. Erickson's actions are a reflection of MSK's other staff and or their ability to help people who are ill. They are a fantastic organization, unfortunately my family was just dealt a bad egg in this instance. My relative was treated at MSK twice for her other two cancers, she beat them both and we are hopeful she will beat this one too.

I dont know why she became a doctor she doesn't like patients.
