Dr. Lee Sheryl Gruber, MD

I spent many hours talking with Dr. Gruber. I concluded that she does not have basic understanding of the principles and treatment of Complex Trauma/Dissociative Identity Disorder. The things she told me about myself were not true; she misinterpreted what I said and did not hear me, because she does not understand complex trauma. She repeatedly told me that I have "sadistic transference" toward all doctors, beginning when she barely knew me. This was a misinterpretation of the anxiety I feel about doctors, with good reason, because they represent to me, on a deep psychic level, the society that failed to help me when I was a hurting, horribly abused child. I think that she thinks that trauma is a consciously felt phenomenon, and not a phenomenon of the deep psyche. I caution you against working with her. She was not competent to treat me. She does not understand my condition.
