Dr. B Lee Hawkins, DDS

Brittain’s Dental Lab was started in 1985 on College Avenue in Jefferson, Georgia, across the street from the Crawford W. Long museum. Much of our business started coming from nearby Gainesville, so the lab relocated the following year to the office of Dr. Lee Hawkins, who was recently president of the Georgia Dental Association (2005-2006). The lab remained there until 1990 when it was again relocated. The lab was incorporated in 1992, but continued to operate as a one to two man lab for the next few years.
During the period from 1993-1999, I worked as a porcelain department manager for a large commercial laboratory while continuing to operate Brittain’s Dental Lab from my home. It was during this time I made many associations with and trained technicians who would eventually become the backbone of Brittain’s Dental Lab. In November 1999, I left the commercial lab and refocused on Brittain’s Dental Lab, redoubling efforts to be known as a high-quality lab.
From 1999 to 2006, …the lab has outgrown it’s space two times, increased from two people to eight, and tripled sales. Our growth has been due to offering state-of-the-art restorative options, high quality, and consistency, while staying on the cutting edge of technology and education in the areas of implants, all-ceramic technology, as well as the latest conventional technology.
In 2004, we purchased a laser welder, making complex cases, including implants, much easier to fabricate, and with better outcomes. In 2005, we purchased a Cerec In-Lab system to take advantage of the latest in all-ceramic technology. Since acquiring the unit in November, 2005, we have fabricated over 3,000 InVision and e.Max crowns and bridges.
